DESCRIPTION

The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) (http://neurosciences.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and is actively recruiting clinician educators to participate in full-time or part time clinical practice in an academic setting. Successful Candidates will become members of the Neurology Division. The Department of Neurosciences invites applications from outstanding candidates for Faculty appointment with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively within a team of like-minded health care providers.

There are excellent opportunities for teaching and the pursuit of academic interests, depending on prior experience and training. While specific subspecialty training is not required to apply for this position, we welcome applications from neurologists with clinical fellowship training (excluding stroke and neurocritical care fellowship training) who would like to combine a general neurology and subspecialty practice through interaction and participation with the appropriate UCSD neurology subspecialty section.

The Department provides excellent opportunities for teaching and other patient care/academic interests with time dedicated to teaching and scholarly activity at one of the nation s top-ranked Medical Schools and one of the most academically productive Departments of Neurosciences in the country.

Candidates must have an MD and board certification/eligibility in Neurology is required, and if applicable Neurology specialties certification. Candidates must have an active or be eligible for a California medical license at the time for appointment.

The ideal candidate should be or have strong potential to be an innovator in their field and able to contribute to clinical program development, grants and contracts, developing and leading new programs related to clinical Neurology or within subspecialty domains in addition to being productive in clinical activity or clinical-related research. It is anticipated candidates will be successful in achieving specified goals in productivity, quality of care and desired health outcomes.

Depending on the candidate s qualification and experience, the appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level and the appropriate series.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
