OVERVIEW:

GENERAL SUMMARY

Assist Buyer with developing business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits for a department or assigned area.

RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

* * Identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts for department. Coordinates information across functions working closely with Product Development, MP&A, Sourcing, Marketing and Visual to ensure the process is followed and timelines met. *Communicate product needs regarding price/etc. to domestic vendors and international agents; creating and following through on time and action calendars for each item developed from 1st sample to shipping

* Participate in the development of assortment plans

* Collaborate in managing product life cycle and new item process for introducing products into the assortment

* Recommend items to feature on all category and sub-category pages based on analysis of volume and occasion date

* Create and maintain all sale categories on the web site

* Determine sequencing of products in specific categories on the web site

* Provide all documentation of new product launches

* Strategic determination of cross sells (suggested product alternatives) and determine keywords for search functions for new/existing web and store product

* Determine most appealing features and benefits of each product for photographer to maximize photo and copy images

* Confirm state check and verify links for site changes and floor sets as needed

* Manage out-of-stock reports and determine items for removal and return to site

* Provide information for implementation of programs to marketing team

* Work with vendors

* Create product knowledge collateral

* Responsible for accuracy and timely implementation of Spec Sheets, QC guidelines, Cost/Retail changes, Test engraving, and Access Database

* Assist selection and placement of assortment in critical floor sets

* Coordination between consumer channels (catalog and web) to ensure consistency and timeliness of products with MP&A and marketing

* Partner with marketing, MP & A, the Fulfillment center, vendors, and customers to provide information and problem solve

* Provide visual merchandising support and proofing of store visual guides

* Partner with DMM and Buyer in comp-shopping, internet research, retail price analysis, and gathering market intelligence

* Work on special projects as assigned

* Responsible for in store testing, web concept testing; analyze results and identify product opportunity for assortment

* Responsible for sample requisition for promo set, web, catalog photography and marketing meetings



QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Abilities

* Open-to-buy management a plus

* Demonstrated effective problem solving and analysis skills which includes the ability to objectively assess merchandise mix to continually improve assortments, anticipate potential problems and risks; generate ideas and solutions to resolve or 'head-off' potential problem

* Solid analytical skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Excellent organizational skills

* Team player

* Detail-oriented

* Strong negotiation skills

* Self-starter

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's Degree

* Corporate retail, preferably merchandising (at least 1 year)

* Requires MicroStrategy or relevant software experience

* Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, JDA are a plus
