Assistant City Attorney - Litigation
The City of Atlanta Department of Law is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant City Attorney position within the Litigation Practice Group. The Litigation Practice Group is a defense-oriented practice that represents the City of Atlanta and its employees in matters pending in both the federal and the state court systems. The Practice Group also handles administrative investigations.
Applicants should be capable of handling all stages of litigation including discovery, depositions and alternative dispute resolution. The ideal candidate should have at least four (4) years of litigation experience in general civil litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate work and 1983. The ideal candidate should have trial experience and experience working with senior attorneys and administrative staff. Prior experience representing a municipal or other local government is not required. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia. The position will require extensive contact with various City Departments and Atlanta City Council.
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctorate degree and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Qualified candidates must successfully pass a background check. Position level and salary are commensurate with experience.
