JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Assistant Dean of Students is responsible for the student conduct code and disciplinary procedures. This position will actively work to promote student responsibility, civility, and respect through effective administration of the student conduct process, educational programming, and development, communication, and enforcement of relevant university policies. The individual in this position will work collaboratively with students, faculty, and administrators to address behavior-related issues in and out of the classroom. This position serves as part of the Dean of Students team and will assume duties pertaining to that role as well.
Main responsibilities include: identify and lead the implementation of strategic objectives for Student Conduct and Community Standards; manage and oversee the departmental budget; supervise professional and administrative staff; implement the Student Conduct Code and disciplinary procedures; m aintain institutional compliance with all laws related to student conduct; manage student conduct investigations when referrals are made to Student Conduct; produce yearly student conduct data reports as well as various reports that are requested throughout the year; develop educational programming opportunities that address student development in the areas of student responsibility and civility; implement alternative ways to resolve student conflict; develop assessment procedures for evaluating the student conduct process as well as student learning through conduct interventions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in the area of Education, Student Development, Counseling, or related field. At least three years' experience in student conduct and/or mediation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated skills in problem resolution and student counseling or advising.
*Proven competency in Microsoft software, including MS Excel, and database reporting.
*Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
*Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and external community.
*Ability to work with parents and outside legal counsel.
*Experience in web development.
*Prior management responsibilities.
*Experience with PAVE software system
