Job Description

In support of Princeton's development mission, the Assistant Director plays an integral role in providing stewardship and recognition for the University's top donors and volunteers. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Director of Stewardship, the Assistant Director is principally involved with efforts to steward Professorships, Preceptorships and other initiatives involving members of the Princeton faculty; efforts to steward Fellowships; serves as liaison to the Office of the Dean of the Faculty and the Dean of the Graduate School; co-manages stewardship plans for Principal Gifts prospects and $1M and Up donors, and drafts individualized stewardship reports for key donors; provides important liaison to several departments and programs.
Principal Duties:

- Direct the Stewardship program for endowed and term Professorships and Preceptorships, in concert with the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, and steward other faculty related funds
- Direct the Stewardship program for endowed and term Fellowships
-Develop, implement and track effective annual stewardship strategies for the University's top donors with Sr. Associate Director and in collaboration with faculty, senior staff, volunteer leaders and other University fundraisers
- Organize donor and volunteer recognition small scale events both on and off campus with the assistance of Development Communications, Events, faculty, senior staff, volunteer leaders and fundraisers; stewardship liaison for a variety of dedication and anniversary events
-Develop meaningful recognition pieces and reports in collaboration with Development Communications and faculty, senior staff, volunteer leaders and fundraisers
- Participate in efforts to review special endowed funds for teaching and research and recommend priorities for stewardship
- Respond to inquiries from within the University and from alumni and others about gifts, and assist in researching gifts and donors through University files, archives and other sources, as necessary
- Work with colleagues associated with various academic departments and programs to encourage appropriate programs of stewardship, donor relations, and donor and volunteer recognition
- Understand fully the mission and resource needs of the University and be prepared to articulate them effectively to potential donors and volunteers
- Participate in goal setting for the Office of Stewardship, and assist in the development and implementation of appropriate stewardship procedures and protocols
- Execute other tasks related to the stewardship function in the Office of Development as requested by the Director of Development and Sr. Associate Director of Stewardship
