THIS IS A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & ENGINEERING EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT POSITION AT THE TIER I LEVEL.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and electromechanical repair of wastewater operations or a similar working environment are required, with at least three (3) of those years in a managerial capacity. A Master's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Preference will be given to candidates who have the following abilities: Experience with SCADA, three plus years previous experience managing electromechanical repair staff, previous success with implementations of continued improvements on asset management and proactive maintenance. Previous experience in planning infrastructure replacement due to remaining asset life is also a plus.Professional Engineer certification/license is also preferred.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **

However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.
