Nature of the Job Basic Purpose & Objective of the Position Prominent role in the design, implementation and on-going affectivity of hotel security infrastructure. Main Duties * The design and establishment of an intelligence based security strategy for the site. * The design and implementation of comprehensive, internal security strategies for the site. * To support the implementation of safety and fire prevention strategies for the site. * The design, implementation and on-going practice of a team development programme. * The design, implementation and maintenance of security systems. * To establish and maintain secure communication networks between the site and Government offices / agencies to manage highly sensitive information. * To lead all investigations and crime prevention initiatives. * To establish and maintain an efficient framework and operational strategy to support VIP visits. * To establish and maintain an efficient framework and operational strategy to support entertainment programmes and / or additional functions. * Coordinates and organizes the day to day operations for all security operations. * To inspire colleagues through expert risk and security knowledge, enthusiasm, sensitivity and the determination to succeed. * To ensure that the security contractor and systems service providers perform in compliance to contract and KPI specifications and to act appropriately in response to any breach. * To ensure that all physical security systems are working optimally at all times. * Ensures all patrolling, inspection and escort duties are monitored and performed to a high standard and in accordance with contractual requirements with service providers. * Monitors and maintains all performance standards and ensure action is taken when standards are not met. * Directs and coordinates activities of personnel in reviewing or updating security measures due to new or revised regulations. * Management of access control, monitoring and programming. * Management of key control, issue and management. * Management of the Security Department's Operational and Capex Budgets, including projects relevant to areas of responsibility. * Coordinates with and provide a liaison role with all emergency services and other security stakeholders. Customer Services * Delivers the brand promise and provides exceptional guest service at all times. * Provides excellent service to internal customers. * Handles all guest and employee complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. Communicates immediately all guest and employee complaints to the Director of Security. * Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships. Operational * Ensures the hotel is safe for all guests, staff members and visitors. * Protects the hotel assets and guest property from theft and damage using an intelligence led approach to security. * Provides leadership for security guards and maintains a disciplined regime to ensure minimum standards are maintained. * Establishes and maintains good and useful relationships with members of the public service appropriate to the hotel and contact with counterpart in the industry to keep abreast of industry standards and developments. * Supervision of all Security Personnel and giving clear direction on all security related aspects. * Watches for suspicious persons entering, exiting or loitering around the building. Conducts walk through observations of the entire hotel. * Interviews, selects, reviews and counsels security officers to maintain order throughout the hotel. Trains new employees according to all corporate specifications, including documentation. * Assigns duties and schedule staff, balancing needs of the hotel and productivity standards. Monitors staff activity and coach subordinate performance. Ensures compliance with all security standards and preventative measures. * Conducts investigations into theft, loss, accidents or any aspect threatening the risk assessment or safety of the hotel and compile investigation reports in a timely manner. * Tracks departmental safety record and document medically treated and non-treated injuries. * Chairs Safety Committee and enforces safety programs. Develops and advises key personnel of emergency procedures. * Establishes crisis management and contingency planning. * Coordinates and performs crisis management and safety trainings. * Coordinates and monitors for efficiency safety and security related programs for overall hotels, including lost and found process, auditing of issuance of hotel keys, chemical, CPR and Fire Preparedness Training. Manager on Duty Tasks, evacuation drills, etc. * Completes accurate reports in Diligence, investigating the root cause of accidents and addressing them to prevent reoccurrences. Supervising Diligence reports from other team members and proactively leading investigations. * Be present at major events to lead the security function from the front. * Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with EAST, Miami rules and regulations for safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. * In addition to performance of essential functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel: * Coordinates training of department personnel. * Works with staff on all "special events" programs within the hotel. * Performs any tasks as requested by Director of Operations. * Participates in courses related to field to remain current. * Be available 24 hours a day for genuine emergencies within the property. People Development * Supports Swire Hotels' cultural and people development implementations and characteristics. * Supervises on-going training initiatives. * Uses all available on the job training tools for employees. * Communicates performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position. * Coaches and counsels employees regarding performance on an on-going basis. Other Duties Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with SWIRE rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel's facilities. Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Nightlife Security Experience is a must. * High school diploma required, Security background through either hotels or police/military * At least 5 years of experience of corporate security/law enforcement/hotel security/military - UAE Experience * Security or safety background.
