SUMMARY: Assist Operations Manager in the responsibility for all day-to-day laboratory operations at a local divisional office.
Represent the policies, ethics, and culture of the company in a leadership role.
Assist and understudies Laboratory Manager through closely monitoring lab related financial performance to achieve or exceed budgeted requirements. Serve as a laboratory management representative for the Company at the respective location(s). Provide for lab-related customer service, troubleshooting, problem solving, and marketing as directed by the manager.
Supervise and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests required for quality control of processes and products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be designated.
* Ensures all lab staff has adequate resources to perform all aspects of work required.
* Ensures all lab staff is adequately trained to safely perform all required job functions and that competency records are maintained.
* Ensure compliance with all corporate policy procedures in the laboratory.
* Assist Operations Manager regarding sales, profits, costs and expenses to meet/ exceed budgeted financial expectations for the laboratory.
* Provide employee motivation and champions the BMS system, including SQC, Calibrations, Quality Assurance, Training, Round Robins and lab BMS.
* Maintain an open door policy and communicates with lab staff and management to promote empowerment and accountability.
* Understand customer requirements and organize lab procedures, schedules and staffing to provide for meeting/exceeding same.
* Support the ISO certificate(s) and manages corrective/preventive actions.
* Review local laboratory operations for all aspects of the continuous improvement process.
* Compile and analyze test information to determine operating efficiency of processes and equipment and to diagnose problems and malfunctions.
* Recommend measures to improve testing procedures, use of equipment, and needs for new equipment. Conduct research to develop custom procedures as needed, working in conjunction with senior lab management.
* Handle required disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner and maintains open communication with the Laboratory Manager and the HR department.
* Represent Inspectorate by appearance and conduct. Behaves ethically at all times.
Ensure compliance in all areas.
* Ensure laboratory practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
* Read, understand and enforce the company BMS and Safety policies.
* May on occasion be required to perform the duties of the Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Technicians.
* Establish or adjust work schedules to meet testing requirements and control costs.
* Maintain time, training, calibration, QC and testing records.
* Other duties as may be assigned by Lab, Division and/or senior management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Laboratory Supervisor(s) (if applicable) and Laboratory Technicians.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor s degree from four-year college or university or Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience required in, AAS, ICP, ICPMS, Leco, Classical Titrations, Wet Chemistry and Copper Leach Chemistry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphical data.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver s license preferred.
