JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Assistant Manager, Center Operations is responsible for managing the administrative and research operations of CDR, Harry Davis Leadership Laboratory. Understand and anticipate faculty needs, understand faculty culture, and deliver effective solutions to individual faculty, directors, research assistants, and other members of these centers. Participate in professional meetings to discuss center goals and implementation strategies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and coordinate center events (including speaker series, conferences, workshops, etc.). This involves acting as an ambassador for the centers and a resource for guests before, during, and after their visits to campus. Assume responsibility for ensuring highest quality event management, including arrangement of event schedules, travel, lodging, and expense reimbursements.
Assist in the preparation, management, and reconciliation of budgets, research accounts, and financial reports. This may include communication with faculty and other Booth departments regarding overages, transfers, and account creation/closure.
Assist in the preparation and processing of grant applications, contracts, and reports.
Support the teaching activities of center faculty through the creation and preparation of course materials including course management sites, digital course reserves, course packs, handouts, PowerPoint slides, etc. Analyze, validate and evaluate drafts of course materials to ensure clarity and accuracy, and recommend changes as necessary. Oversee and manage teaching assistants on behalf of faculty in a manner consistent with faculty requirements.
Support the research and outreach activities of center faculty by providing technical and administrative support.
Support the directors by managing day-to-day operation of center activities. Ensure compliance with relevant Booth, University and other policies and guidelines. Assist in managing and updating websites.
Provide assistance to the Director of CDR as requested. Supervise and direct the work of part time student employees and other temporary help as needed. Act as liaison when directors are not available and make responsible decisions.
