To directly assist the Project Manager in managing, coordinating and administering the project through all phases of construction.
Location - Newark, NJ
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Assist the project team and ensure project completion within budget, schedule and in conformance with specifications.
2. Assist in reviewing purchase orders, change orders, sub-contracts.
3. Develops design and procurement schedules for approval.
4. Resolves field initiated questions.
5. Coordinates activities among the design groups.
6. Prepares or directs the preparation of project studies, reports, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved including current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
2. Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
3. Skill in oral and written communication.
4. Must be able to solicit schedule updates from all trade contractors, and maintain a master project schedule.
5. Interface with the Architect and Inspectors to assure the work meets all design requirements.
Work Experience Requirements
2-5 years of experience in construction management field.
Typically starts as a Project Engineer upon graduation before becoming APM.
Education Requirements
The above is normally acquired through:
a recognized degree in Architecture, Construction, an Engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent experience or specialized courses in relevant general engineering, architectural design or an appropriate engineering discipline.
