The Department of Informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences has a full-time position available for an Assistant Project Scientist. This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Centered Computing, or related area. The position is in the Software Design and Collaboration Laboratory (sdcl.ics.uci.edu), and involves performing research in human-centered software engineering, with a particular emphasis on crowdsourcing and software development.
Work to be performed includes the design, development, and evaluation of innovative crowdsourcing/software development technologies, conducting experiments, writing publications and presenting at conferences, working with a team of graduate and undergraduate students, identifying and following through on new grant opportunities, and other aspects of academic scholarship.
Candidates should have a strong background in (human-centered) software engineering, with an established track record of publishing in key conferences and workshops, as well as familiarity and ideally experience with empirical studies, both in the field and in the lab. Past involvement in grant writing would be a plus.
The salary for this position is $72,700 a year. The initial appointment will be for one year, with extensions for further years dependent in part on the availability of funding. Anticipated date of appointment is October 1, 2016.
