The Data Manager will assist in the coordination and implementation of research activities of Dr. John Belperio for the UCLA Interstitial Lung Disease Program. The appointed person will be responsible for records maintenance and data entry. Other responsibilities include scheduling of necessary tests for study participants ,packaging of samples for shipment. Coordinate communication and feedback to patients, families, referring physicians.


Working ability to organize work in order to complete assignments in a timely manner and coordinate day-to-day activities of multiple projects. Excellent communication skills to collect and/or convey information to persons of various educational and cultural backgrounds using correct grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling. Skill in design of data management systems for efficient handling of short term and longitudinal studies. Knowledge of statistical, epidemiological and clinical terminology and procedures. Ability to create, edit, and manipulate databases. Ability to work accurately with detail. Demonstrated working knowledge of IBM computers, spreadsheets, database management practices and applications. Working knowledge of University forms, policies, and procedures. Ability to make oral presentations to provide information or explain reports, policies, and procedures. Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating closely with co-workers and faculty on a variety of interdependent research functions. Ability to analyze situations and define problems/objectives, identify relevant factors, formulate logical conclusions, and recognize alternatives and their implications. Skill in working independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction, and identifying potentially more effective methods of work operation. Skill in development of surveys and medical record abstraction tools. Preferred proficiency in data entry with at least some of the following Electronic Data Entry systems: RAVE Medidata, InForm, Quintiles, University of Michigan EDC, Synapse. BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience.
