The University of California Riverside, Recreation Department seeks a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive professional to become a member of the Recreation Department professional staff. The Assistant Special Events / Night Operations Coordinator reports to the Recreation Department's Special Events and Operations Manager and will work closely with the department's professional and student staff in the conduct of their duties. As the Assistant Special Events / Night Operations Coordinator, the incumbent provides supervisory level oversight, support and guidance to the student staff as well as the users of the recreation facilities. We are recruiting for 2 positions.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Red Cross CPR.
Standard First Aid Training Certification.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Experience in event coordination and production in a university setting.
Demonstrated experience working in a University recreation department.
Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
Ability to adjust schedule as needed based on event needs.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization.
Thorough knowledge of program activity and industry best practices.
Strong service orientation; program management, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking skills, skills to develop original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Strong proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties.
Client service focused, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills to resolve non-standard issues.
Thorough knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
Ability to work in youth camps, fitness and outdoor programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of recreation programming and facilities risk management best practices.
