This position requires familiarity with construction plans and specifications, a grasp of general construction terminology, proficiency with verbal communication, basic writing skills as required for clerical work, an ability to follow direction, and an aptitude for learning. All candidates should possess a college degree in a related discipline of study, such as Construction Management, Building Construction Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or Civil Engineering. Although only minimal experience is a pre-requisite, the position does require punctuality, reliability, an attention to detail, a commitment to professionalism, and a willingness to learn construction supervision.

As part of the Project Management Team specifically assigned to the Parklawn HHS Building Renovation Project, the Assistant Superintendent will support the General Superintendent and Project Superintendents (referred to as the 'Superintendent' below) and will:

Receive routine supervisory tasks and technical direction from the Superintendent as needed to perform assigned responsibilities.
Direct subcontractor and vendor activities within specific areas of the project.
Assist the Superintendent in the preparation of construction methods, schedules, manpower charts, and material and equipment requirements.
Analyze manpower, material, and equipment requirements to meet timelines and goals for the project, and coordinate the collaborative effort between various subcontractors and vendors.
Check job progress, report activities to the Superintendent, and act as 'eyes and ears' in the field for the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent shall check on specific items of work on the site as directed by Superintendent and report status information to the Superintendent.
Fill out Daily Reports, incorporating comments by the Superintendent. Daily Reports shall be completed each day, and shall be submitted to the Superintendent for review and revision as needed. The Assistant Superintendent shall fill out other miscellaneous forms and paperwork as requested by the Superintendent.
Collect, organize, and log Daily Reports from all subcontractors and vendors working at the site and verify subcontractor and vendor Daily Reports for accuracy.
Take daily progress photos/digital images, LEED photos, and other specific photos as directed by the Superintendent or as required for documentation purposes.
Implement and enforce safety and operational policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by the Project Team.
Post pertinent information to the Contract Drawings (revisions, bulletins, RFIs, clarifications, 'as-built' information, etc.) and aid in organization and coordination of shop drawings and submittals.
Maintain field office binders for project supervision, inclusive of Visitor Logs, Scope Binders, Project Safety Training Program, Subcontractor Work Safety Plans, MSDS Sheets, etc. The Assistant Superintendent will perform basic office tasks in the absence of field administrative staff.
Provide input data to assist with Project Schedule update process.
Oversee and manage laborers working on site for both Tishman and its subcontractors.
Schedule and receive deliveries, coordinate site logistics, organize small tools, maintain safety and security devices, etc.
Act as a Tishman representative on site during short-term absences by the Superintendent, which may require that the Assistant Superintendent work after-hours, weekends, evenings, etc. as requested by the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will monitor onsite activities during the Superintendent's absence and will immediately contact the Superintendent to report any activities or events that are beyond the scope or direction issued by the Superintendent prior to his departure from site.
