TheAssistant Supervisorwill be responsible for directing Stony Island (1,500 acre Island, and 10 miles from shore) hunting and fishing guide services, host and guest transportation and entertainment in the Stony Island manager's absence. The Assistant Supervisor will also direct on-site maintenance, safety procedures, construction projects and dog-care programs.Responsibilities may include:Human Relations:* Directing the work of three part-time guides, two part-time grounds keepers and independent contractors.* Maintaining direct contact with over 500 hosts and guests per year including the top management of ConocoPhillips and influential people outside the company.* Serving as Stony Island Supervisor 30 to 35% of the time and directs the work of an additional ten employees during the season and one employee in the off-season.* Instructing, directing and communicating with hosts and guests on facility rules and regulations, game laws, gun and boat safety and Island History while the Stony Island manager is not on duty.Material Items:* Directing the operation of boats ($500,000), vehicles ($100,000), fishing tackle ($25,000), mechanic tools ($10,000), guns ($50,000) and farm equipment ($50,000).* Directing the procurement of hunting and fishing supplies totaling $150,000.* Directing the cleaning and maintenance of guest fishing and hunting equipment.Money Records and Information:* Directing guides on hunting and fishing parties (approximately 40 per year) for executives, foreign dignitaries, guests, etc.* Directing maintenance program for all Stony Island equipment, and maintains records on the equipment, etc.* Directing safety program for hosts, guests and employees and all safety practices related to the equipment.* Directing construction performed by employees and independent contractors, $100,000 per year.* Directing hunting dogs handling, kenneling and care involving 20 dogs valued at $5,000 each, totaling $100,000.Physical Effort and Working Conditions:* During season, piloting boats for guest transportation and tours (10%).* Hazardous conditions include possibilities for hunting accidents (numerous guests have no previous hunting experience) and boating accidents.Basic Requirements* Legally authorized to work in the United States* Minimum 2 years of college* Valid drivers license* Possesses valid hunting and fishing license* Must have passed an approved hunters safety course* Basic computer skills* Ability to be away from home up to 4 nights per week starting June through November each yearPreferred Qualifications* Customer service and diplomacy skills* Integrity, judgment, and discretion* Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals at varying levels within the corporate structure.* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work as part of a team.* Possesses a current United States Coast Guard License to carry passengers* Satisfactory working knowledge of the Eastern Basin of Lake Ontario* Dog handling experience* Supervisory experience* Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems* Guiding experienceIn order to be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answ
