RUSH UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER PRESENTS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR AN ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS IN ITS OFFICE OF PHILANTHROPY.

The Associate Director of Development is responsible for pursuing funding from corporate and foundation sources to support programs and projects at Rush University Medical Center. The Corporate and Foundation Relations team contributes to the Medical Center's strategic direction by building relationships with a broad range of local and national grant makers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

An integral member of a five-person team, the Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations, and works closely with Medical Center physicians, scientists, administrators, program staff, Trustees, and other members of the Office of Philanthropy. The Associate Director manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors and prospects; specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Meet regularly with assigned faculty members to keep abreast of their work and identify potential funding sources.

Research and analyze donor giving patterns and interests.
*

Design and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to foster long-term engagement.
*

Develop a lay understanding of current themes and Rush priorities in clinical care, research, academics, and community health.
*

Write and edit proposals, reports, prospect background profiles, correspondence, and other documents for internal and external audiences.
*

Participate in team and departmental planning, including campaign preparation.
*

Coordinate special projects as required.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

*

A minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience, including three serving as an account manager for corporate and foundation prospects, are required.
*

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*

Strong analytic and organizational skills.
*

An ability to handle multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and to respond to shifting priorities.
*

Experience working within a health care and/or higher education setting is preferred.
*

Bachelor s degree required.



*A relevant writing sample will be required as part of the application process. Original grant proposal is highly preferred.
