ABOUT THE POSITION:
Be a part of a professional team responsible for analyzing data and activities to provide relevant and up-to-date information to support decision-making. As an Analyst in the Accounts Payable department, you will assist the Manager of Accounts Payable with maintaining day-to-day processes and work on developing process improvements within the organization. You will actively lead/participate in projects, providing high-level in-depth analysis to assist with making fact based recommendations on process and system improvements. An Accounts Payable Analyst must seek and promote industry best practices to achieve business objectives while working with a diverse team of skilled individuals on critical assignments and projects.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
This position supports the management of consistent, efficient, customer-friendly Accounts Payable policies and procedures for the delivery of core Accounts Payable services. The AP Analyst also provides support for National Grid s SAP ERP system, RightNow, Communi-T, CentreVue and various banking portals.
Other responsibilities will include:
*Strategic development of consistent, efficient, stream-lined, customer-friendly policies and procedures for the delivery of core Accounts Payable services to all of National Grid.
*Coordinate efforts across the National Grid organization to promote continuous improvement of core service delivery. This requires cross-functional collaboration with members of Global Procurement, the Services Delivery Center, Finance, and other miscellaneous groups as required.
*Delivery of all ad-hoc analyses as required by all departments directly reporting to the Manager of Accounts Payable.
*Provide key performance indicator (KPI) reporting as required.
*Provide support of internal audit and Sarbanes Oxley audits of core service delivery for National Grid.
*Interface with information services department on mutual enhancements to Right Now and SAP.
*Creation and modification of various job aid materials to increase efficiency.
*Provide administrative, policy and procedural support for all of Procure-to-Pay.
*Perform analysis related to supplier payment methods, including procurement and storm cards, fuel cards, travel cards and other payment processes; payment processing, including wire transfers, receipting and vouching and employee expense account processes.
*Provide assistance in the day to day administration of Corporate Cards and Expense Accounts.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
*Bachelor s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience or business support experience.
*Strong knowledge and working experience with SAP
*Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, including Power Point, Word and Excel.
*Ability to translate complex data requests into robust and optimized solutions
*In-depth knowledge of the Procure-to-Pay and Accounts Payable Processes.
*Knowledge of corporate card and travel & expense procedures & policies.
*Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement business processes and strategies with only general direction.
*Detail oriented and be a creative problem solver
*Results oriented with a focus on customers satisfaction
*Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, analytical skills, problem solving and decision making capabilities, and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to take ownership of an assignment and progress independently to meet deadlines with accuracy; highly motivated to see task through to completion when faced with obstacles
