JOB DUTIES:

Under the general direction of the Senior Dentist, the staff Dentist will provide dental services to patients of Venice Family Clinic's Dental Program. Duties include the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of dental disease. Examine patient and interpret x-rays to diagnoses dental disease and create treatment plans. Treat mouth disease and refer to appropriate specialist when necessary. Perform restorative procedures including amalgam and composite fillings. Perform extractions. Perform emergency palliative treatment including pulpotomies and pulpectomies. Perform procedures under local anesthetic and nitrous oxide sedation. Perform periodontal procedures to treat periodontal disease including scaling and root planning. Provide prophylaxis treatment including fluoride and sealant applications. Instruct patients in oral hygiene. Prepare and maintain clinical records. Perform full scope of Dentistry, including adult and pediatric patients, ages 0-19.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Current California Dental and DEA licenses. Demonstrated skill in diagnosing dental disease from the clinical exam and radiographic analysis. Demonstrated skill in developing an appropriate treatment plan. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in performing restorative procedures safely under local anesthetic and nitrous oxide sedation. Demonstrated skill in performing extractions. Demonstrated skill in performing emergency palliative treatment including pulpotomies and pulpectomies. Demonstrated skill in providing treatment of periodontal disease including scaling and root planning. Bilingual verbal skills in English and Spanish. Ability to work with infectious disease patients. bility to accurately and efficiently enter patient data via Electronic Dental Record (EDR). Ability to interact effectively with people of various socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to deal with patient complaints with tact and diplomacy. Ability to work with volunteers. Comply with HIPAA and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures as they apply to the job. Demonstrate full scope of Dentistry, including experience with adult and pediatric patients, ages 0-19. Minimum 5 years clinical experience at a dental practice. Work experience in a high volume Community Health Center (CHC) or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is strongly preferred. Ability to work late hours and/or weekends.
