Job Description

Standard and Poors Data Strategy and Operations (DSO) group has an opening for an Associate Director, Data Stewardship with focus on Corporate and Government data. To be considered for this role, you must have be proficient in financial statement analysis, be able to perform SQL queries and have experience working with cross-functional teams. Successful candidates need to be well rounded, possessing the analytical, writing, and presentation skills needed to prepare and summarize rating recommendations for consumption by both credit committee and the public. The position also requires interaction with servicers, trustees, and investors - strong communication skills are a critical. The Data Stewardship team, in close cooperation with the other areas of the Data Strategy and Operations team, helps support and delivers on the SandP Ratings business objectives around Information Data Assurance and Quality. The teams objectives have been recently enhanced to provide strategy and execution around Information Quality in support of the changes in laws and regulations globally in alignment with compliance initiatives around Quality, Criteria, Compliance, and Risk. Selected individual will work closely with members of Ratings Analytical and Operations and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements for data quality.In this position, you will be responsible for the execution of successful support operations. Youll deliver tactical and strategic recommendations with a concentrated focus on enterprise-wide acceptable solutions. Youll document requirements and provide implementation recommendations. Youll ensure that appropriate execution through testing, ongoing support of data support tasks and detailed understanding of various business units core tasks and responsibilities. Specifically, you will:

Lead and conduct day to day management of multiple queries raised via application users. This includes liaising with business unit teams and other operations teams locally and globally.
Define the support requirements for internal business applications by understanding how they utilize the tools and manipulate the data. Constantly and continually review, evaluate and report the queries metrics.
Research and deliver plans that describe the implementation of data support priorities. This includes steps to gather, validate, and archive required data as well as requirements to implement and incorporate data management activities within the Data Operations teams.
Recommend and implement solutions and procedures to the business which include the necessary tasks to achieve high quality data and which take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes to allow consistency and prevent re-work. Ensure all projects take into consideration the overall data strategy of the organization.
Regularly perform root cause analysis on user queries and drives feedback back to individual team members or other stakeholders.
Facilitate discussions with potential application owners, second level resolvers and Business Unit teams to establish data requirements and collection/transfer methodologies. Perform testing on new data sets being assessed and provide recommendations to that lead to the execution of requirements. Identify sources or errors and recommend best process and/or solution(s) for the business.
Manage and run ad hoc data queries from multiple database types to identify and correct support inconsistencies.
Provide training on application/support tasks to other members of the Data Support Center members responsible for day to day operations. This may also include assisting in the development of the technical and support documentation used.

Bachelors Degree
Five or more years experience in a data operations role, of which at least three years should be in financial data quality.
SQL database knowledge (SQL queries)
Proficiency in Financial Statement Analysis
Ability to work on international team and manage offshore and outsource resources - previous supervisory experience preferred
Ability to work closely with project teams of 10+ individuals from different disciplines (IT, Project Management) across SandPs businesses.
