JOB DESCRIPTION

The Associate Director, Digital Communications will be responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating the digital communications strategy for Temple University's Institutional Advancement (IA) websites ( giving.temple.edu and alumni.temple.edu ) and associated digital properties. Reporting to the Director of Development Communications, the Associate Director will plan for future digital enhancements for continuous improvement, staying current on Web and accessibility standards and analyzing comparable higher education websites to identify trends and best practices. He / she will be the primary point of contact for all Advancement digital communications request and will assume the role of project manager for all Advancement digital projects. The Associate Director will manage the Digital Content Management Specialist and will be an integral member of the Development Communications team.



Other responsibilities include organizing, preparing and loading website content using the iModules content management system (CMS) and industry standard web development tools. Typical content includes the creation / maintenance of Web pages to support individual schools / colleges, events, campaigns and programs. The Associate Director will also monitor Temple's IA websites in a proactive manner to ensure that all aspects of the sites are technically complete and meet all functional and university branding specifications. Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Education & Experience:



A Bachelor's degree in Marketing / Communications, with an emphasis on digital communications. A minimum two years relevant experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.



Required Skills & Abilities:



*Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc.)



*Proficient with HTML5 and CSS3



*Strong understanding of database management systems



*Working knowledge of CMS Web design, Web content management / marketing, data analytics and search engine optimization (SEO)

*Working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other related Web technologies

*Experience with various Web CMS technologies (i.e., iModules, Drupal, WordPress)

*Basic understanding of database integration techniques, such as Web services, for use with Web and mobile content delivery



Preferred:



*Experience in higher education sector



*Experience with iModules platform
