Job Description

Associate Director, Global Market Research

The Associate Director of Global Market Research is expected to lead all market research activities in support of one or more of Biogen Idecs products for the treatment of MS, ALS, or Hemophilia within the Global Commercial organization.

Using their significant market research expertise, the Associate Director is expected to lead all aspects of the market research exercises required for their commercial focus areas ranging from market research planning, to project execution, to driving understanding of market insights. The Associate Director provides ongoing strategic direction to their partnered team and the broader commercial organization.

Specific responsibilities include:

The Associate Director will be solely responsible for all market research activities required by a brand/disease areas commercial partners, ranging from the collection of data to support forecasting, lifecycle enhancements, branding, positioning, messaging, and segmentation exercises. The Associate Director will be the primary point of Market Research contact for their partnered commercial team.

Creation of market research plans for each commercial partner and will drive frequent alignment exercises with each partner to evolve the market research plans as business needs evolve.

Provide significant brand planning assistance for their commercial partner.

Regular contributor to setting commercial and brand strategy, making actionable recommendations grounded in the data collected via market research. The Associate Director will be a subject matter expert on all data generated on the market and brand supported.

Within the Global Market Research department, the Associate Director plays a critical role in helping the set department direction and improving team processes. Responsible for providing feedback and ideas to the internal team on MR process improvements.

Drive alignment between Global market research activities and local affiliate brand and market research teams.

Manage vendors to develop in-depth interviews, focus group sessions, and other qualitative techniques in addition to quantitative techniques to provide insights into adoption, market share changes, and performance metrics. The Associate Director requires no assistance on complex projects such as segmentation, conjoint analysis, etc.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years market research experience within a pharmaceutical company or consulting firm supporting the pharmaceutical industry.
- Consulting background strongly preferred.
- Strong analytic and quantitative skill set.
- Strong understanding of marketing and market research principles.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong communication skills, particularly presentation skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking capabilities and equally excellent tactical execution skills.
- Driven, highly self-motivated, confident, high-energy, bright and creative individual with desire and ability to own a high profile part of the business.
- Strong computer aptitude and ability to learn systems quickly.
