Job Description
Assist the Director of Program Services (DPS) to support the chapter's implementation of mission related program activities as described in the Program Plan. Position Responsibilities A. Support program planning, implementation, and evaluation as assigned by the Director of Program Services:
- Support specific program plan objectives as assigned by the DPS.
- Support improvement in the chapter's Program Standards for Success score, as directed by the DPS.
- Assist in the maintenance of documentation or program activities to enable reporting to the regional and/or national office; provide accountability for community grants, and complete the annual Program Survey.
B. Support staff and volunteer education in the area of mission:
- Educate staff and/or volunteers about the March of Dimes mission according to the 'Continuum of Intervention'.
- Assist in the provision of clerical support, orientation, and training for the Program Services Committee and all sub-committees to insure that they have the tools and information to be maximally effective.
- Insure that program activities are as volunteer-led as possible and volunteers participate in marketing March of Dimes Nursing Modules, Resource Center, and other education materials.
- Insure that staff and volunteers follow all procedures and guidelines related to program activities disseminated by the national and regional offices.
- Be familiar with and share the chapter's need assessment program plan, and national research program with other disciplines within the chapter.
- Provide assistance to incorporate mission into fundraising and communications activities.
C. Participate in coalitions and community outreach as specified by the DPS:
- Maximize chapter effectiveness in meeting program plan objectives by working on coalitions with other professionals with common program objectives, under the direction of the DPS.
- Utilize volunteers as March of Dimes representatives whenever possible.
- Promote March of Dimes mission related accomplishments, activities, community grants, research, etc.
D. Other responsibilities include:
attend national, regional, or other meetings necessary to fulfill job responsibilities or obtain training; attend orientation at the national office, based on responsibilities.
E. Maintain an active Public Affairs committee and support advocacy priorities and legislation as indicated by the Office of Government Affairs and local advocacy opportunities; maintain an active Chair Reaction Council and integrate youth volunteers into mission, fundraising, and public affairs activities.
Qualifications Required - Bachelor's degree in education, community health, nursing, health advocacy, or related field or equivalent combination education and experience
- 2 - 4 years experience in maternal/infant health, reproductive health; working with disadvantaged populations; program planning, development and implementation; volunteer development, recruiting and training; community development, or grants administration
- Experience in project management, volunteer development, recruiting and training; community development or grants administration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving, planning, implementation, and organizational skills required
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) required
- Ability to transport materials/refreshments for meetings, conferences, health fairs, etc.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends
- Ability to drive or fly to meetings, division offices, training, etc.
- Ability to use a computer, printer, telephone, typewriter, VCR, slide projector, overhead projector, LCD panel, copier, and fax
- Must successfully complete a credit and criminal background check
