The UC Strategic Sourcing Center of Excellence for Construction works in collaboration with University of California Capital Programs to advance automation of the Construction procurement and contract management process, and create value through proactive sourcing, negotiation, contractor relationship management and process improvement to reduce the life cycle cost of building construction, building systems, and maintenance.
Working with a high degree of autonomy under the direction of the Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Associate Director provides leadership and guidance to a team of Commodity Managers and directly works to develop and implement strategic process, practice, and business partner relationship opportunities and strategies for construction and design.
The Construction Sourcing Center of Excellence seeks to leverage annual spend in the range of $300-$800 million and produce best-in-class construction and design practices that help the University reduce cost while achieving program objectives. The Associate Director advocates, develops, and supports long term strategies and programs for designing, building and maintaining capital projects by collaborating with campus and OP strategic sourcing and capital programs professionals.The Associate Director Applies knowledge, experiences and relationships in sourcing, procuring and managing contractor relationships in the Construction category to provide leadership in the use of advanced professional concepts to advance organizational objectives and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on projects of broad and diverse complexity where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Critical stakeholder relationships include both internal and external to the department at all levels.
Position requires travel up to 25% and can be physically located on the nearest UC campus to residence.
