Qualifications: The Transmission Planning Department is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, dedicated, and professional individual to join the Interconnection Services Section. The ideal candidate for this position must have fundamental knowledge and understanding of power engineering principles, including the utilization of analytical tools commonly used to analyze the performance of electrical systems. Requires strong oral and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and various levels of management (including coordination with neighboring companies and those Merchant Transmission and Generation providers seeking to interconnect to the NYS Bulk Power System). Selected candidate must have experience working in a team environment. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and possess the ability to render sound business decisions. Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple tasks and changing deadlines. Requires strong computer skills, including ability to process load flow, contingency analysis, Short Circuit analysis programs (PSSE, or ASPEN), MS Office, and other PC-based programs. Ability to coordinate engineering projects is required. Previous engineering project management, contract administration, NYISO Attachment X interconnection process, and tariff experience preferred. Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering is required.

Additional experience in the analysis of the NY State and/or Con Edison Transmission System, utilization of one or more of the following PSS/E, ASPEN, EMTP, GE-MARS or equivalents and/or the evaluation of transmission and generator project interconnection issues is preferred. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER A (1H) Must have 2 years engineering experience in transmission planning and/or the related areas of transmission operation, distribution engineering, electrical engineering or reliability analysis. ENGINEER (2L) Must have 4 years engineering experience in transmission planning and/or the related areas of transmission operation, distribution engineering, electrical engineering or reliability analysis. The S&TO organization pays particular attention to the attendance and performance records of all applicants. Heavy emphasis is also given to those candidates that have greater than 24 month s tenure in their current role. Internal applicants who do not meet this threshold may not be considered

Responsibilities: The selected candidate may/will be required to: coordinate, perform, evaluate and communicate the results of studies performed by others relating to the current and future operation/design of the Con Edison integrated electric power system, and recommend system modifications/upgrades; conduct economic analyses of transmission alternatives; evaluate reliability benefits of alternative plans, provide technical expertise and guidance; coordinate Company resources to provide support to developers of new generation and transmission resources. May be required to act as a Manager during the absence of Section Manager. Will represent the department on internal and external committees, teams and task forces and at regulatory proceedings.

Must be able and willing to travel throughout the Con Edison service territory and make field visits when required. Must be able and willing to wear the appropriate PPE when field conditions dictate their use. Must be able and willing to travel to Con Edison Substations, as well as neighboring utility and industry locations.
