This Associate Engineer role is a junior level position that assists in the development and maintenance of surgical or other medical products, provides technical writing support of design history files, and performs other related duties as required in support of the development and sustaining teams.

Assists with the development of design history files for surgical or other medical products.
Reviews existing product lines and provides technical writing support.
Prepares and coordinates the running of protocols for the design verification of various medical devices and components.
Gathers data on current products to support marketing, engineering, and regulatory requests.
Supports multiple projects and makes sure they are completed in a timely manner.
Responsible for formal project management and related project documentation for minor design and sustaining projects.
Helps generate design ideas for new products as well as solutions to existing products when modifications are requested.
Understands, and assists other team members in, updating and maintaining risk documentation to conform to current standards.
Enhances growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, training meetings and workshops.
Participates actively in continuous quality improvement activities through compliance with safety standards.
Demonstrates professional responsibilities by cooperating with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and departmental goals and objectives.
Maintains compliance with principles of accepted employee conduct as identified in the Teleflex Medical employee handbook, Code of Ethics, and as specified in departmental policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field. Work experience in the design and/or modification of plastic components for the medical industry may be considered in lieu of Bachelor s degree.
Experience with CADD (design/drafting) programs, specifically SolidWorks, preferred.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of U.S. FDA GMP and ISO requirements for the design, validation, manufacturing processes, secondary operations and assembly of medical components and devices preferred.
Knowledge of ISO and ASTM testing methods for medical devices and general plastic components preferred.
Knowledge of principles and practices of professional engineering and regulations pertaining to medical device design and design modifications preferred.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access)
Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices.
Draw solutions from a wide range of experience.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Make effective presentations to, and participate in a variety of meetings and conferences with other companies and the public.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Analyze complex, technical and administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.
Organize, evaluate, and coordinate engineering studies with professional, technical, and clerical staff of a product evaluation department.
Conduct comprehensive studies and preparation of reports including recommendations.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Prepare clear and concise statements and reports.
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contracted in the workplace.
Speak and write English fluently.
Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
