DESCRIPTION

The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley is soliciting applications for a faculty position in the field of Computational Biology at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (tenured). The expected start date is July 1, 2017.

The Department of Molecular & Cell Biology (MCB) and the Center for Computational Biology (CCB) seek a person with strong interest and experience in the development and/or application of computational, mathematical, and/or statistical methods to solve Big Data problems in biology. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, inference and modeling of biological networks and interactions using large scale omics data, detection of phenotype-genotype associations and/or causality in genetics and epigenetics, integration of genomic and health datasets for improvement of public health and analyses of large DNA sequencing data sets, such as cancer genomes. These topics might also include structure determination, image analysis, signaling networks, gene expression and genetic or genomic analysis. Candidates who use wet lab approaches to combine theory, computation, and experiment are encouraged to apply.

We seek candidates that have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research. A Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent degree in Biology, Math, Physics, Statistics or Computer Science or a related field is required at the time of application.
