JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:
Position Description: The Assistant Project Safety
Manager will assist the Project Safety Manager, PX, PM,
and Superintendents in adhering to company safety and
loss control policies. Works on construction projects to
identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions
that may lead to injury and or property damage using job
specific safety standards, best management practices,
and Injury Free Environment Techniques. He/she provides
support to the Project Safety Manager in an effort to
enforce corporate safety and health policies and
procedures.
Reports to: Project Safety Manager
Requirements:
Assists Project Safety Manager, BUSD, PX, PM, and
Superintendent in administering and adhering to company
safety, health, and environmental policies such as:
o Educate project staff on safety guidelines and
policies
o Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness
and compliance with Turner s policies
o Promote safe work practices and safe working
conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local
regulations, and owner/contractual requirements
o Administer drug screening program (pre-employment,
post accident random and cause) that is consistent with
Turner s or Owner s requirements
o Assist Project Safety Manager and Superintendent in
preconstruction meetings
Assists in implementation of the project safety
program under the direction of the Project Safety
Manager. Duties include:
o Ensure that Subs are conducting the proper training as
per the OSHA standards
o Conduct effective worker orientation program for every
new employee and administer and record their
participation
o Gather pre-task planning and JHA program for all
project contractors based on contractual requirements
o Conduct safety meetings and issue minutes of meetings
as directed by the Project Safety Manager
o Maintain a log of each sub s toolbox safety meetings
held with their employees
o Provide safety reports to Project Safety Manager as
required
o Assist in providing training to Turner hourly
personnel as designated by the Project Safety Manager
o Conduct safety audits per company policy and work with
Project Safety Manager to issue reports of any
violations or unsafe practices to Subs for immediate
corrective action
o Recommend corrective action based on predetermined
policies, guidelines and procedures.
