SUMMARY: The Automation Technician position is technical career employment in Tyson Foods, Incorporated. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems,and manufacturing processes. The Automation Technician responsibilities will include: perform high-level machine and systems troubleshooting and repair; assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems; provide technical support for all phases of the operation; perform hands on repairs of plant equipment and systems as needed; comply with Tyson Foods Maintenance Skills Level Training policy.

Requirements:
Education: Training beyond high school including either: an Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience which may include Skilled Trades programs or military training.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years automation experience in a food processing and/or industrial maintenance experience; proven good safety and attendance record along with strong interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills: Competent in Windows-based software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word; strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, and research techniques; must either be proficient or become proficient in SAP Maintenance (If installed at the facility.)

Communication Skills: Reading and writing fluency in English. High level verbal communications, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; have the ability to function effectively in a team environment, and interact productively with all levels of management and operations personnel.

Certification: Certifications in any technical field or techniques is a plus.

Note for Tyson Internal applicants: Applicant must have successfully completed up to level 4 of the Maintenance Skills Training program.

Travel: Minimum of 1-5 trips per year outside of assigned location.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Physical Requirements: Must meet the essential physical functions required to perform the duties noted. Minimum Technical Employment Requirements: The successful candidate will possess the following skills: Demonstrated skills in the area of AC/DC circuits, industrial electrical systems, and required experience in electrical safety and lockout/tagout processes and procedures; knowledge in the theory and application of electronic devices, such as industrial semiconductors, solid-state drives and industrial control systems; experience in the troubleshooting and operation of PLC systems and microprocessors; working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals; ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
