GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Brigham Innovation Hub (iHub) is an initiative within Brigham and Womens Hospital focused on creating and supporting a culture of innovation at the hospital. We have an energetic and hard-working team and were looking for a new member who can bring in diverse skill sets around analysis. Its important to us and should be to you as well that you have a passion for improving healthcare and that youre comfortable playing in the early, front-end of innovation.

The iHub is building momentum for digital transformation at the hospital. Digital technologies play an increasingly important role in healthcare to help support workflows and improve quality, safety and efficiency. Under the direction of the Innovation Manager, the Innovation and Business Analyst, as a member of the iHub team, will be at the forefront of bringing new digital solutions to solve the biggest hospital leadership priorities. This person will participate in the entire workflow from problem identification through solution selection and the early stages of implementation.

The analyst will play a key role in working with the iHub as we further digitize the health system. This person will work with leaders from across the hospital using digital technology and be on the cutting edge of designing mHealth and digital technologies for our patients, providers, and staff. They will be an integral team member working closely with enterprise information systems team, the (iHub) and clinical leadership.

You will be pave the way in a new position, typically working on at least two to three simultaneous projects at different levels of completion, with job responsibilities varying according to the stage in the project.

This position may require occasional non-standard hours and travel at times to patient care locations for events, projects, meetings, or resolving issues.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Innovation and Business Analysis
Work closely with hospital leadership and innovation managers to transform and communicate hospital needs into technical and functional requirements. You will use primary and secondary research to gather, understand and document both functional and technical requirements. Your insight into the root cause will inform if and how we will address key hospital initiatives through digital health solutions.
This analyst will participate, with the entire iHub team, in vetting and selecting projects and play an integral role in helping us to decide - through a thorough market analysis which projects we should leverage the extensive BWHC resources to either build a market-defining tool or identify partner companies to co-develop the next generation market leader or pursue existing best of breed solutions.
Guide product development with high-quality analyses of digital health and innovation opportunities including: definition of unmet market needs, identification of target customers, development of pricing models, assessment of market size, evaluations of competitors and analogs, and exploration of potential business models
To be successful, you will need to understand clinical and experiential needs for both patients and staff within a healthcare environment, especially as it relates to each hospital initiative we aim to solve.
Use your in-depth problem knowledge to define, capture and analyze the outcome metrics for the biggest hospital priorities.
Identify, source, and write specifications for relevant datasets (ie. enterprise data warehouse, EHR or other resource) based on project needs and required or available data elements.
Review, analyze, and interpret data for insights into project and organizational need.

General and Project Management
You will have opportunities to grow your project management skills by working with internal clinical champions to evaluate key clinical challenges, and by crafting best practices, charters, process maps, and other tools to support project requirements.
Contribute to and maintain project plans and proactively manage and coordinate open action items
Work together with the team to groom backlog and plan sprints, and maintain alignment with project scope
Take on a highly visible role shaping digital health projects across a broad portfolio along the development pipeline, from vetting initial ideas to mobilizing for internal adoption.
Assist the team with ad-hoc, day-to-day tasks, and operational activities to support the implementation and expansion of iHub programs across the network
Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams at BWHC to support project design, development and implementation activities
Work collaboratively in a team environment
Collaborate with the hospital leadership to ensure develop pipeline is aligned with hospital strategic initiatives.
Contribute to the continuing evolution and growth of iHub team and mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Three or more years of experience in business or healthcare required.
Bachelor Degree required.
Knowledge of Windows and Apple computers and applications, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Project, and PowerPoint and other standard analysis tools (SQL, Crystal, etc.) required.
Familiarity with Apple iOS, Android, and Microsoft Surface devices and developer tools is preferred.
Experience with healthcare applications and Agile development principles a major plus.
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders a strong plus.
Experience with data analysis methodologies, and the ability to create and interpret data displays - including clinical, cost, and patient satisfaction data.
Familiarity with Enterprise Data Warehouse and EHR data extraction is highly desired.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Business Analysis
Ability to consult with hospital leadership, conduct primary and secondary research, and synthesize information to analyze hospital needs and determine project specifications.
Demonstrated business analysis skills including market and root cause analysis and statistical process control.
Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively communicate complex data/ideas to all levels of management.
Ability to tell compelling stories both in writing and visually.
Familiarity with one or more areas of the digital and/or mobile product development lifecycle - envisioning new strategies and solutions, market validation, business modeling, requirements definition, architecture definition, design, implementation, and support strategies

General and Project Management
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, attend to details, prioritize multiple tasks, and problem solve under pressure of deadlines and resource constraints and changing priorities.
Ability to work both independently on a self-directed basis as well as in a project-based team environment with cooperation and interaction with various team members, clinicians, staff, and leadership.
The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated ability as a self-starter, with a cando attitude, who doesnt shy away from creative solutions to big problems, and is able to manage with ambiguity in rapidly changing, fastpaced environment. All while bringing his/her experience and innovative ideas.
Experience working on the clinical or business sides of health care is preferred, a passion for understanding and innovating around big issues in healthcare required.
Strong knowledge of trends in related industries and key players, emerging technologies, and new business models.
Proven ability to listen to and communicate effectively with hospital leadership and colleagues in both oral and written formats
Able to demonstrate technical, creative and business understanding and insight

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office environment with local travel to other BWHC sites or patient care areas.
