Job Description

RTI s Center for Health Policy Science and Tobacco Research has an opening for a bachelor s-level position in the Research Triangle Park, NC office. The center conducts contract and grant funded work in health economics, health policy, and public health with a primary focus on tobacco use prevention and cessation. The successful applicant will play a role in the application of a variety of economic and health policy research methods in support of projects that evaluate the impact of state and federal tobacco control programs and policies, counter-tobacco media campaigns, and other behavioral health interventions. Candidates with excellent quantitative skills are encouraged to apply. This position offers significant professional development opportunities with a leading research organization. * Conduct economic and policy analyses on a range of projects for federal, state, and local governmental and non-profit clients

* Support evaluations of public health policies, media campaigns, behavioral health programs, and community interventions

* Assist in the creation of scientific publications and technical reports by providing research support for senior staff

* Collect data and compile databases by combining information from one or more sources using Excel, Stata, and/or SAS

* Implement statistical models to perform econometric and statistical analyses under the direction of senior staff

* Prepare tables and charts, and write sections of reports

* Review the health, economics, and social science literatures to identify specific findings

* Compile meeting notes and manage basic project correspondence


* BA/BS in Economics or other quantitative health, public policy, or social science field (We will be considering applicants with December 2016 and May 2017 graduates)

* Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered.

* Quantitative research experience or course work in applied economics/econometrics or other quantitative health, public policy, or social science field required

* The candidate will be required to demonstrate these qualifications with a transcript, references, and writing sample

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; proficiency in Microsoft Access is a plus

* Proficiency in Stata or similar statistical software, such as SAS or R

* Exemplary oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills

* Proven ability to manage tasks for multiple project directors simultaneously

* To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
