SUMMARY:The Banquet Bartender is primarily responsible for serving properly mixed drinks to catered guests. S/He will promote a safe working environment and quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. The Banquet Bartender will work with supervisors, inspectors, and other members of the banquet team to ensure maximum efficiency. The Banquet Bartender shall strive to provide exceptional service to guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Hotel's Culture. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Signs in and reports to the Banquet Manager/Assistant Banquet Manager on time and in full uniform. Knows and applies all federal, state, and local laws governing the service of alcoholic beverages, as well as the hotel's policies regarding liquor service liability. Interprets the bar arrangements on the banquet contract and plans the set up. Gathers all needed supplies and equipment for the bar set-up. Sets up the banquet bar according to hotel standards and maintains it during service. Performs necessary side work. Serves properly mixed drinks to catered guests. Breaks down the bar at closing and returns all equipment. Takes liquor inventory, fills out the consumption report, replaces items in inventory, and accounts for empties. Obtains the Captain's/Manager's approval prior to signing out. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Banquet Captain, Banquet Manager, or Assistant Banquet Manager. Associate is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: TIPS Certification preferred High school diploma or equivalent One to two years of bartending/related experience and/or training preferred Knowledge of basic banquet service Neat, clean, person with strong desire to serve people Highly organized and detail-oriented Exceptional guest-focus Fluency in other languages beneficial JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit Must be able to read and speak English Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written Must be able to quickly learn simple procedures and techniques Must be detailed orientated and work well under pressure Must be able to work in a fast paced environment Must be professional in appearance and demeanor Must be able to abide by the Hotel's appearance standards and compliance with designated uniform Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are based on occupancy levels and business of hotel Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to stand for full shift Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds Must have good hearing for accurate communication with guests. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type Must be able to work in areas of loud noises.
