Scope of Position The Banquet Financial Manager contributes to the operational and financial part of the overall Banquet operation. She/he assists in overseeing the overall organization, insuring the implementation and consistency of the company standards. She/he has a focus on all Banquet pertinent labour and financial matters. The Banquet Financial Manager coordinate the communication between Catering (Sales), Banquet (Operation) and Accounting (Finance & Payroll). She/he is supervising with the Catering leadership the costing (cost projection and cost allocation) of events. Duties and Responsibilities Major responsibilities: Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Departmental Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Guiding Principles and D.E.L.I.G.H.T as part of ensuring Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement. Provide leadership and support for all Banquet colleagues. Trains, evaluates and schedules Banquet colleagues in accordance with the standards of the company policies and guidelines. Champion the schedule of all Servers, Barbacks and Housemen. Do so while maintaining the service standards of Mandarin Oriental while operating within budgeted labor cost guidelines. Champion the servers function assignment. The ability to assist in hiring, motivating, disciplining, directing, and supervising the work of the colleagues in the Banquet Department. The ability to assist in developing and maintaining all training programs on a continual basis to insure a high degree of professionalism within the staff. The ability to ensure proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of service personnel. The ability to maintain daily housekeeping program to include storage and operational areas and colleague appearance. Champion the purchase and requisition with The Director of Banquet Operations of the Banquet operating expenses The ability to assume responsibility for shift supervisory duties if needed The ability to coordinate and insure communication between Catering, Banquet and Finance Champion the Banquet payroll and gratuity reports as required. Champion the Banquet checks with all back-up for collection at the end of functions. Champion the verification of BEO with Catering Manager and the proper billing process The ability to attend regular catering meetings to obtain information of the upcoming contracted functions. The ability to attend and participate in all required meetings on a regular basis. The ability to organize and orchestrate any last minute changes or details to functions. The ability to post all contracted function sheets and gives instructions to servers to insure the success of the function. The ability to constantly monitor the staff's appearance, attitude, and degree of professionalism to insure their strict adherence to Mandarin Oriental's standards of quality service. The ability to conduct financial meetings with Catering and Accounting The ability to take an active role in implementing safety procedures and following up within the department. The ability to respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation. The ability to execute and fill the role of the Assistant Director of Banquets in his/her absence. The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff Requirements Mandatory Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays. Be a self-motivator and motivator of others. Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner. Be able to relate to all levels of guests and management. Have a minimum of 3 years combine experience in Banquet and Accounting, preferably in luxury environment Have excellent communication and organization skills Be able to consistently delight and satisfy our guest Have the ability to handle guest requests in a detailed manner Excellent computer skills and ability to use Excel, Word, Power point Experience in food and beverage and accounting management/supervisor experience.
