Program Overview:
In partnership with McLean Hospital, the Kennedy Hope Academy is a residential school utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA) and positive behavioral supports (PBS) to provide state-of-the-art treatment to students, ages 5-21, who have challenging behaviors, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities and other neurological disorders. The school is located within Franciscan Hospital for Children and features onsite outdoor playgrounds, a student computer lab, specially designed sensory rooms and access to specialized medical and dental services.

Position Summary:
Acts as a Program Coordinator for the KHA residential program. This role fosters the ideals of the program by setting an example for employees through adherence to the established philosophy, objectives, policies and standards. This role is designed to be a clinical and training resource for staff as well as a supervisor and mentor. In addition to providing ongoing feedback and training for all staff, this role works to create a team atmosphere, encourages professional/educational advancement and ensures that staff completes their responsibilities across all domains. This role ensures staffing meets regulatory requirements, oversees physical plant concerns of the residence and school and assigns responsibilities to Behavioral Residential Counselors for services and activities. Most importantly, this position requires knowing the systems and students, communicating with staff, supervising Behavioral Residential Counselors staff, building staff morale, developing professionally, and adhering to professional standards.


Supervises Behavioral Residential Counselors on the residence under the authority of the program director. Responsibilities including training employees, planning, scheduling, assigning work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Interacts with students in a therapeutic manner that facilitates adaptive coping and life skills through implementation of treatment plan goals and objectives.


Demonstrates clinical expertise in working with children and adolescents with severe challenging behaviors as well as developmental disabilities and psychiatric illnesses; demonstrates competence in behavior management.


Supervises, plans, and develops programming to meet individual needs of the residents in accordance with all pertinent regulations.


Successfully completes Hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory education requirements.


Applies Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques to children and adolescents with behavioral and psychiatric conditions. Restrains, or assists in restraining, patients/residents weighing up to 350 pounds when intervention is necessary to ensure safety.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Two years of college education or equivalent work experience is required. A Bachelor s Degree in Human/Social Services is preferred. One to two year s supervisory experience in a residential setting is preferred. Previous work experience and/or academic course work completed in applied behavior analysis is strongly preferred.
Schedule is either 4 or 5 day option which includes 1 weekend shift per week. Hours are 2:30 p.m. - 11:30 with predictable schedule.
