Rush University Medical Center presents an opportunity for an experienced BENEFIT ADMINISTRATOR. Under the general direction of the Manager, Health & Welfare Benefits, this position helps develop, implement, administer and maintain Rush Health & Welfare benefit plans. The position is responsible for ensuring accurate data file feeds, data integrity and accuracy. Provides benefits support, as needed, for Rush Oak Park Hospital. This position assists with developing, and maintaining standard benefit plan workflow processes. Provides and models internal customer service skills to Benefits Specialists, HR Business Partners and employees. Obtains, analyzes and reports data designed to evaluate and improve Rush s work environment and culture. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Provides and models internal customer service skills to Benefits Specialists, HR Business Partners and employees. Acts as a subject matter expert, responding to unresolved and escalated employee questions/issues.
*

Provides appropriate administrative support for the outsourced tuition assistance program and enhancements. Acts as internal liaison with vendor and is the employee advocate to ensure timely and accurate reimbursements. Assists with any updates and appropriate communications.
*

Provides appropriate tuition assistance administrative support to the Benefits Specialist during the transition to the external tuition vendor.
*

Ensures adherence to benefits billing best practices, including compiling and verifying data, completing check requests, mailing checks and tracking payment processes.
*

Establishes a monthly billing and tracking payment processes to ensure timely payments. Conducts periodic audits, as needed.
*

Audits payroll deductions vs. on-line enrollments benefit eligibility and benefit utilization. Conducts targeted audit every January to ensure appropriate deductions are stopped and start to coincide with the new plan year
*

Coordinates and presents benefits information at New Employee and House Staff Orientations.
*

Ensures vendor collateral material is accurate and maintains a limited stock. Ensure new hire benefit packets are updated and adequately stocked. Maintains supply of other benefit-related material/forms.
*

Maintains and updates Benefits section of Rush's internal website.
*

Participates with appropriate discussion regarding file feeds or benefits projects with the Manager, HR Technology and support staff.
*

Ensures the hours tracking reports and benefits eligibility reports from our external vendors are posted and shared with HR, as needed.
*

Provides benefits support, as needed, with Choose Health and wellness management. Coordinates with the Benefits Manager and Benefits Analyst to ensure wellness file feed data integrity is provided timely to Benefit Focus.
*

Supports the Benefits Manager and Benefits Analyst with developing, coordinating, scheduling and facilitating open enrollments, wellness screenings and other events as needed.
*

Works with the Benefits Specialist regarding COBRA, Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care and Transportation Management with our external vendor.
*

Assists and participates with revising appropriate benefit policies or benefit policy management.
*

Assists with collecting and providing any external annual audit requests.
*

Coordinates annual employee Open Enrollment and Benefits Fair with vendors and ensures appropriate collateral material is available to employees. Ensures location and dates are consistent with the upcoming Open Enrollment.
*

Manages on-going benefits projects and spreadsheets as assigned, continuously reviews, identifies and implements process improvements.
*

Develops, generates and provides monthly Benefit Focus reporting and ensures the benefit vendors provide timely claims and or utilization reports.
*

Participates in appropriate benefit and wellness surveys.
*

Ensures appropriate Summary Plan Descriptions, contracts, legal documents are filed and posted.
*

Maintains annual calendar of mandated legal filings due dates.
*

Provides benefit support for the FMLA Leave Administrator, as needed.
*

Provides benefits administration support, as needed, to the Benefits Manager with executive management benefit programs.
*

Performs related duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

*

Bachelor s degree required.
*

Three to five years of related work experience or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience where the required knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.
*

Experience in benefits or financial analysis and administration required.
*

Previous experience with tier two call center or comparable customer supports preferred.
*

PHR or SPHR preferred.
*

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required to assess and resolve issues around scheduling, projects and/or daily responsibilities.
*

Strong evidence-based analytical approach to problem solving with equally strong written and verbal communication skills.
*

Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
*

Excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact with and influence a wide range of internal and external constituencies.
*

Excellent independent judgment and the ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
*

Highly organized to effectively plan, track, evaluate and follow-up on multiple priorities for multiple people.
*

Ability to exhibit a sense of urgency around customer service to model behavior for others.
*

Ability and willingness to approach tasks with a spirit of collaboration and high degree of initiative in order to problem solve with peers and customers.

Must be approachable, dependable and a self-starter. Possesses and demonstrates the ability to quickly grasp the essence of an issue or problem and a curiosity to uncover facts as well as the follow through to build/recommend solutions.

Desire and ability to either build a long-lasting solution or to provide a quick fix, and the judgment and expertise to distinguish which is appropriate in the given circumstance.
