We conduct comprehensive research providing insight on public health issues, create and manage community health programs, and provide services to organizations to address public health challenges.

Programs of Public Health Solutions address critical public health needs such as maternal and child health, nutrition, access to health insurance, HIV prevention and care, and smoking cessation. For government agencies, nonprofit organizations and others, Public Health Solutions provides services to enable them to enhance their effectiveness and strengthen their capacity to have an impact and efficiently manage funds.

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a self-motivated and outgoing Benefits Assistant to work in a fast-paced and customer service-driven Human Resources department. The Benefits Assistant carries out responsibilities including HRIS, employee relations, training and development and recruitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responds to employee inquiries regarding benefits
*

Processes benefit enrollment for new hires and benefit changes for employees
*

Manages entire leave of absence program, including disability, FMLA and personal leave.Understands the FMLA, disability and workers' compensation plans and regulations.Ensures compliance with applicable law and policy.
*

Manages unemployment insurance claims, performs inquiries, responds to UI claims, maintains related documentation.
*

Administers COBRA
*

Assists with new hire orientation.Assembles orientation materials.
*

Organizes annual benefit fair and other special events

*

Helps identify and recruit top talent through efficient and cost effective recruiting methods by understanding and following the staffing and recruitment process, including but not limited to creating and maintaining job descriptions, posting jobs, screening resumes, coordinating interviews.
*

Assists recruiter in conducting full-cycle recruitment for open positions
*

Performs pre-screens and interviews of candidates and assists hiring managers with offer process
*

Oversees all onboarding and offboarding functions for the organization
*

Completes employment verifications, including administering per-employment background checks
*

Additional Responsibilities

*

Manages the HR department's day-to-day administrative needs including records management
*

Processes all employee status changes in HRIS system
*

Compiles statistics and prepares reports relating to payroll, recruiting, position control, compensation and EEO
*

Generates ad hoc HRIS and payroll reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

*

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
*

Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working as a Benefits Assistant
*

Minimum 1 year of full-cycle recruitment experience filling difficult-to-fill and niche positions
*

Working knowledge of federal, state and city employment regulations and requirements
*

Knowledge of ADP
*

Knowledge of Kenexa Brass Ring preferred
*

Proficiency with Microsoft suite
*

Experience in not-for-profit environment a plus
*

Professional of Human Resources (PHR) certification a plus
