PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Advanced Biomedical Computing Center (ABCC) is part of the Information Systems Program (ISP) at SAIC-Frederick, Inc (SAIC-F). The ABCC provides technology development, scientific consultation, collaboration & training, & high performance computing support to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) & National Institutes of Health (NIH) scientist & staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for team leadership in bioinformatics core providing support to the US National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research. As a key part of the scientific discovery process, learn & adapt technologies, provide bioinformatics analysis, integrate, innovate & deliver results supporting cancer research. Provide biological interpretation of analysis results including mutation impact assessment, pathway analysis, expression analysis, prioritization of identified loci/gene lists & correlation with data from mainstream & leading edge experimental methods. Interact with investigators throughout entire experimental process, from design through results interpretation & manuscript preparation. Manage staff providing similar types of assistance in an exciting multi-project, interdisciplinary environment supporting leading research spanning multiple cancer research interests. Coordinate, integrate & utilize applications & databases made available by the Advanced Biomedical Computing Center (ABCC) across the Bethesda, Frederick, Rockville & Gaithersburg NCI campuses. Collaborate with peer researchers across ABCC & CCR. Work with SAIC-F & NCI management to develop & execute developmental roadmap to accommodate new initiatives & technologies.
