JOB DESCRIPTIONSummary: This position is responsible for completing daily workflow tasks in one or more of the functional service areas of NMDP Biorepository Services.
This position is responsible for completing daily workflow tasks in one or more of the functional service areas of NMDP Biorepository Services, a time-sensitive and high-throughput laboratory facility that manages more than 10 million biological samples, to assist in the mission of finding matched unrelated donors and advancing research for patients in need of hematopoietic stem cell transplants. In service of this mission, each month Biorepository Services sends thousands of sample collection kits, handles more than 35,000 new biological samples for Be The Match Registry, and receives more than 650 valuable donor and patient research samples.
Bachelor's degree in a biological sciences discipline, including laboratory coursework. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related post-high school biological/medical laboratory work experience and/or education may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Education including chemistry, microbiology, immunology and/or cell biology preferred. Biological/medical laboratory work experience preferred.
Skill in laboratory procedures for handling biological specimens. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills. Good oral, written, email and telephone communication and customer service skills. Good interpersonal skills.
Basic word processing, spreadsheet and database software skills. Experience handling biological materials required.
