We seeking a motivated entry-level Biosystems Device Engineer to join our Biosystems and Tissue Engineering Group. Specifically the role requires design fabrication and testing of devices for use in our in vitro models advanced diagnostics and medical devices programs. The candidate will be expected to have a working knowledge of design tools and experience with advanced manufacturing methods and laboratory testing. Understanding of microfluidics is preferred. He/she will work with senior engineers to implement designs and work with biologists to test the devices with live cells and other media. We offer an atmosphere that fosters innovation individual contributions within a team environment intellectual freedom and creativity and an emphasis on career development.Responsibilities Design using solid modeling Understanding and ability to operate advanced manufacturing tools Interface with and knowledge of machine shop Basic concepts for microfluidic fabrication including options to outsource Hands-on skills to develop molding and assembly processes Ability to train and transfer molding and assembly processes and other skills to technicians Understanding of metrology tools to evaluate microfluidic devices and other mechanical devices Understanding of fluid mechanics as related to microfluidics Ability to design and develop in the LabView environment Technical communication skills Statistical analysis is a plus
