This Budget Office position requires an analytic mind-set and extreme attention to detail. Familiarity using financial and/or managerial data systems and intermediate-level use of Microsoft Excel is required. Microsoft Access familiarity is a plus.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT: Assist assigned departments in proper completion of operating budgets; meet with department heads to resolve budgeting issues. Input annual budget in EPSi providing supporting details and notes for tracking purpose and make necessary budget adjustments as warranted. Prepare financial analyses on workload, revenue, and expenses. Prepare monthly pre-close variance explanation for assigned cost centers highlighting potential problems or issues for further analysis and resolution.
Review departments' variance explanations on a monthly basis and identify the revenue and expenditure trends in the individual cost centers as well as in a larger perspective. Lead monthly variance meeting for assigned departments. Monitor FTE and payroll expense trends for assigned cost centers and provide any updates and adjustments for the review of Staff Resource Committee (SRC). Work with General Accounting to facilitate the appropriate journal entries to ensure the alignment of expenses with the budget. Provide on-going analytical support to departments.
OTHER PROJECTS: Prepare financial analyses and analyze complex issues regarding project expense, project capital, capital equipment, depreciation, amortization, lease schedules, workload, or FTEs for assigned departments. Prepare financial calculations for joint ventures, cap, and subcap agreements. Perform other analyses as needed.
5 Years financial analysis experience, preferred but not required in health care.
Knowledge of cost and financial accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures.
