POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Development Manager is an existing role within Kimball Electronics Shared Services. This position is located outside headquarters and it reports to Tom Ferris, Global Director Business Development - Medical Industry Solutions for Kimball Electronics, located in Ireland. The role is a USA based position that will be responsible for identifying prospective customers and developing long term relationships with OEM customers in the Medical Industry Segment.

QUICK SUMMARY

The person in this role will spend the majority of their time identifying prospective customers in the Medical Industry segment and attract long-term strategic customers for Kimball Electronics (KE) through a combination of effective marketing activities and successful communication of the KE package of value (POV) and profile. To be successful the candidate must self motivated, possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, technically competent and be able to land new customers through a structured Business Development methodology. The individual will develop and support opportunities for all Kimball Electronics facilities in the North America, Europe and ASIA. Once new accounts are added the successful candidate will take on ownership of these relationships and transition activity to a Business Manager at an appropriate time.

BASIC BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

This position will require:

A willingness to travel extensively

Working independently and remote from Kimball Electronics facilities.

This position will located in the Mid-West or East coast USA regions. Applications from the West coast will not be considered

*

Major account business development skills.

*

Demonstrated ability Developing and winning new Medical OEM s through an organized and structured Business Development methodology
*

Experience establishing long term relationships with Medical OEM customers.
*

The ability to identify prospective customers and qualify their fit to the company s capabilities.
*

The ability to lead specific project or account teams until they are transitioned to other resources.
*

Detail orientated and responsive to prospective customer needs. The ability to maintain salesforce.com (CRM Tool) prospect, opportunity and quote data.
*

Experience working with customers and suppliers and exposure to Six Sigma processes and techniques.
*

Expected to take ownership of the opportunity and drive to deliver the best cost proposal first time

*

The ability to work with all levels of the organization (Prospective Customers and internal to Kimball Electronics).
*

The candidate should have an Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to resolve issues and provide creative solutions

* Leading teams (without direct reports) for quote activity for potential new accounts.

* Understand the capabilities of all Kimball Electronics production sites

*

A bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience.
*

Technically astute with EMS experience and knowledge of associated manufacturing processes. Experience of medical disposables, plastics and metal forming would be an advantage
*

Demonstrated ability to win Electronic PCBA and Higher level assembly business.
*

Helpful, but not required is an engineering degree or other technical training

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

Short Term: (0 to 3 months)

*

Learn and understand key capabilities of each Kimball Electronics facility
*

Develop a thorough understanding of use of salesforce.com (our CRM tool)

Forge Relationships with Operations Leadership
*

Understand the Kimball Business Development process.
*

Prospect, Active Account, Strategy Statement Approval, Plant Visits, and RFQ process.

Develop an understanding of the Kimball quote development process
*

Begin the prospecting process of identifying prospective customers for Kimball Electronics
*

Assume responsibility for existing prospective accounts and create a Business Development Strategy to win

Midterm: (3 to 15 months)

*

Identify approximately 2 new active accounts (prospects) per month
*

Complete 1 new approved strategy statement every other month
*

Complete 1 new plant visit every other month
*

Complete approximately 1 new RFQ per month.
*

Add 1 new customer

Longer Term: ( 15 months)

*

Identify approximately 2 new active accounts (prospects) per month
*

Complete 1 new approved strategy statement per month
*

Complete 1 new plant visit per month
*

Complete approximately 2 new RFQs per month.
*

On an annual basis land 2 new customers per year that meet KE Revenue and profitability expectations

Other (ad hoc priorities):

Identify and lead improvement processes with the business development processes
*

Be a proactive and supportive member of the Medical Industry Solutions Business Development Team
