BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Territory Sales
Location:
SE Florida (Miami/Dade County - Ft. Lauderdale)
Job Description As a Business Development Manager with R.W. Smith & Co., you will build and develop new business customers within your region. Reporting to a Director of Business Development, the Business Development Manager must be able to self-generate leads and have the ability to close new foodservice businesses in an outside/B2B sales environment. The Business Development Manager develops, plans and make presentations to key decision makers within the foodservice industry (i.e. fine dining establishments, hotel, casinos, resorts, country clubs, etc.). This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who has a proven consultative selling track record.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Business Development
- Identifies new lateral and vertical market target customers;
- Monitors market conditions, product innovations and trends, and competitors' products, pricing and sales strategies to maximize competitive stance;
- Stays abreast of business strategies and trends to effectively acquire new business and to maximize revenue growth period over period with existing customers;
- Calls on ten (10) prospective customers each week.
Account Management- Schedules weekly face-to-face meetings with existing customers to assess short and long-term needs.
- Prepares tabletop, small wares and/or equipment quotes.
- Solicits, secures, processes and ensures fulfillment of reorder business;
- Orders samples, sets-up and presents tabletop options to customers for consideration.
- Develops a close working relationship with key decision makers at existing accounts;
- Communicates relevant product, pricing, chip warranties, stock availability and delivery and backorder status to current customers.
- Ensures customers' questions are addressed in a timely manner;
- Completes five to eight (5-8) sales calls per day with existing customers.
Paid Training Classroom and field training. Training will include sales model as well as product and process training. Ongoing training consists of 'Rookie' training sessions which precede company sponsored sales events. QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Minimum:- Bachelor's degree, or,
- For applicants without a Bachelor's degree, three or more years' recent, successful, consultative B2B outside sales experience.
Preferred: - Previous hands-on work experience in and knowledge of restaurant operations (front and/or back of the house), food service equipment and/or recent customer service experience would prove beneficial.
- B2B outside sales experience preferred;
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Minimum:- Computer hardware and software proficiency including an intermediate-level, hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet navigation.- Seeks to continuously learn and has the capacity necessary to adapt efficiently and effectively respond when in training situations.
- Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language.
- Assimilates and processes numerical information to make objective decisions.
- Analyzes and reasons within different contexts and situations;
- Works effectively with a variety of people with differing abilities and presentation styles.
Preferred:- 1+ years experience with sales and customer relationship management (CRM) software tools and enterprise resource planning (ERP) programs.
- Identifies and implements effective relationship strategies with business associates, including key external decision makers as well as company leaders and operations and support staff;
- Communicates and resolves complex ideas using data, words or both.
- Displays a stronger than average energy level; is a self-starter who thrives in situations where managing multiple, time-sensitive commitments are easily overcome without compromising integrity or becoming overwhelmed.
- Uses objective reasoning and independent judgment to make decisions with financial consequence to the organization.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
Minimum:- Maintains a valid driver license and current vehicle insurance at all times throughout the employment cycle; has access to reliable transportation.
- Presents professionally, both in attire and demeanor.
Travel:
Minimum:- Spends up to 85% of each work day in personal vehicle, driving to and from customer appointments.
- Up to 10% of the time is required to travel using personal vehicle or public transportation to attend business meetings outside of employee's residence city or state.
