JOB DESCRIPTIONThe BI Analyst is responsible for the business intelligence requirements process, documents the requirements, coordinates deliverables from the BI resources, contributes to the technical design, performs quality control and facilitates user acceptance testing for all BI deliverables. The BI Analyst is the liaison between the business and the IT resources. The incumbent gains working knowledge of related source data systems and tool sets. On smaller projects, the analyst coordinates the various resources, tasks and timing, and handles direct communication to end users. 1. Gather and understand analytical requirements and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources. 2. Distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. 3. Present alternative BI solutions for customer, using creative-thinking expertise and solution prototypes, to ensure effective reporting/analysis. 4. Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously. 5. Using User Requirements Documentation collaborate with BI EDW team and Subject Matter Experts to define solutions to develop the architecture of the selected analytical solutions. 6. Design and develop with BI EDW team high performing data solutions which meet the needs of the Dashboard or analysis requirements. 7. Serve as the liaison between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the Subject Matter Experts / BI EDW team through which the requirements flow. 8. Design and develop creative BI components for the delivery of dashboards, scorecards, delivered reports, ad hoc queries, extracts and analytics, using existing enterprise BI tool set (Oracle BIEE, BOE, Crystal). 9. Provide user education of business intelligence applications and help ensure access to data. 10. Maintain the quality and integrity of data collected for decision making. 11. Develop and conduct testing in QA to ensure quality assurance of BI output. 12. Work with end users to ensure user acceptance testing and a complete delivery of reporting/analysis solution. 13. Utilizes objects from the presentation model of OBIEE to create Reports, Ad-Hoc Queries and Interactive Dashboards to support business objectives. 14. Creates reports with OBIEE Answers and Dashboards. 15. Creates reports using a variety of display options including table, chart, pivot table, etc. 16. Creates new objects in the form of calculated fields, dynamic parameters, filters, etc. in order to enhance and optimize the report viewing experience. 17. Utilizes reporting best-practices to make reports flexible and re-useable. Working Conditions: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field. 2. Strong interpersonal, communication and documentation skills (verbal and written). 3. Strong team player. 4. Creative thinking for providing innovative solutions. 5. Must have data analysis and report writing as primary function in most recent role. 6. Experience with some or all of these technologies: Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, Epic Applications, Epic Clarity, PeopleSoft, and Oracle BIEE. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Oracle BI Enterprise Edition, MS Sql Server, Toad or Informatica. 2. Epic Application and or Epic Clarity Data Model Certifications.
