Job Description
Our client, an International Investment bank is seeking a controller, either an Associate or AVP to join their firm. He / she will provide Business Unit Control (BUC) support primarily for the Treasury business unit and acts as coverage to the Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) business line, covering various products including Money Market Loans and Deposits, Debt, CP and CD Issuance, Hedging products such as Interest Rate Derivative, Futures and Options. Will also cover Credit Portfolio products such as Commercial Loans, and Credit Derivatives.
The BUC performs andldquo;front to backandrdquo; business unit control functions ranging from daily PandL production, flash to actual reconciliation with PandL explain and validation, IPV , valuation and reserves processes, month-end reconciliation processes and, all relevant related control processes within Finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform Daily PandL and work closely with the Treasury business unit to ensure accurate and transparent financial data is reported in the segmented Treasury result. This also includes review of IPV results and application of proper valuation reserves on specific products.
Perform month-end PandL reconciliation to ensure all front to back PandL is reconciled with explanation provided to the business for any variance.
Perform Front to Back office reconciliations and controls to ensure the business is provided with accurate position inventories for PandL, valuation and risk reporting.
Report and perform detail analysis on FAS 133 Hedge Accounting Results, in coordination with the Global Hedge Accounting Team.
Provide assistance to Treasury team for more transparency in the internal funding booking and reporting process, liaise with BUC members from CandM and other Segments to assure proper funding allocation is reviewed and booked.
Coordinate with Global Business Unit Controlling team to ensure infrastructure and reporting is in line with the Global segmental reporting structure, process and controls.
Build and implement enhanced process and controls for business unit balance sheet and PandL and, escalate issues to management in a timely manner.
Participate in local or global initiatives or projects.
Assist in coordinating with regulatory authorities and internal and external auditors during examinations, reviews and audits
Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, and ensures that staff where appropriate complies with those.
Progress towards supervising and guiding staff; evaluating staff performance and address employee issues; and participate in staff hiring.
Experience /Qualifications/Education:
5 to 7 years of solid working experience in product control area within a Financial Institution. Preferably in a Corporate Treasury or Money Market business area.Sound product knowledge including Debt Issuance, Money Market Loans and Deposits, Interest Rate Derivatives, Futures and Options, Credit Derivatives, Corporate Bonds and Loans (Including Secondary).Strong accounting and control background. Preferred to have practical working experience with FAS 133, FVO and, AFS accounting.Strong understanding of Corporate Treasury businesses and established experience in relationship building with Front Office traders and other related internal customers.Highly motivated and driven to succeed in a challenging environment.Excellent interpersonal skills in both the written and verbal form.Detail oriented - proactive and tenacious approach to problem solving with a focus on results.Strong MS Office skills.
