Coordinates buying and planning for a Value Stream or collection of products. Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:Planning Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements Conducts capacity planning and schedules assembly cells Works directly with production associates to ensure customer commitments are met Analyzes inventory usage and identifies potential problems and causes that effect inventory level objectives Sets up and adjusts Kanban/JIT systems to meet business needs Recommends changes to improve product or process efficiency and/or reduce cost using continuous improvement principlesBuying Actively engaged in the day-to-day business of sourcing materials to keep production flowing Interprets MRP and makes decisions on stocking and replenishment Prepares RFQs and purchase orders Interacts directly with suppliers, ensuring purchase order confirmation and on-time/expedited delivery Implements improvements within the supply chain to enable inventory reduction


Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or other relevant discipline Minimum 5 years of buying/planning experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Formal training in MRP preferred. Demonstrated high level of proficiency in MRP systems and supporting logic. Experience with pull systems, process mapping, JIT and related continuous improvement principles. Strong computer (Excel, Access) skills Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to foster and maintain high levels of employee involvement, proven track record of negotiation, problem solving, and organization skills
