Under minimal supervision this position is responsible for the successful execution of purchasing duties, ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of materials and services
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the purchase of direct and indirect materials in accordance with site and global systems, processes, and strategies
Ensure the uninterrupted flow of production and research activities by obtaining and ensuring delivery of acceptable quality goods and services at the right time and at the maximum end-use value per dollar spent
Participate in the evaluation of suppliers of raw materials, components, finished products, and services to Alere. Ensure compliance with approved supplier and approved service supplier programs
Comply with applicable antitrust and other purchasing-related laws and regulations including Federal Acquisition Regulations for government contracts
Comply with applicable corporate policies & procedures and FDA/ISO regulations pertaining to the purchasing function
Resolve disputes or complaints between requestors, purchasing, receiving, and vendors
Participate in data tracking, analysis, recommendation/business case development, and reporting to include scorecards, inventory management, market & supplier assessments, quote package development & analyses, make v. buy decisions, etc.
Review and provide recommendations on contracts, negotiations, redlines, etc. with internal and external stakeholders
Develop business relationships with suppliers to preserve Aleres good business reputation while still obtaining competitive prices
Actively participate in the product transfer process to provide materials input during the development of new products
Maintain good relations with internal and external customers by ensuring professional behavior consistent with Aleres policies and practices. Must work effectively with the end-users of products and services by processing their requirements in a timely manner and ensuring that the goods and/or services support their needs
BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity of MRP systems and purchasing policies
5 years experience in a procurement role including 2 years in a highly regulated environment preferred
Broad experience with MRP software (Fourthshift and/or SciQuest a plus)
Strong procurement skills including spend analysis, negotiations, supplier relationship management and supply chain risk mitigation.
