Develop and drive the execution of strategies to achieve the financial goals, maximize sales and margin for assigned categories. Develop and create a nurturing and mentoring environment that instills pride and ownership while developing future leadership.


Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

* * Delivering or exceeding the Plan targets (sales, IMU, gross margin, A/P, inventory turn, shrink and clearance) and profit goals by incorporating competitive intelligence, customer knowledge; develop, interpret and communicate business analysis

* Keep track of changes in trend, consumer behavior and competition and provides analysis and guidance as how those changes should be interpreted and managed within their assortments

* Assess and identify life cycle opportunities and risk. Propose actions plans to maximize opportunity and minimize risk within their product categories

* *Develop Assortment Plans in partnership with GMM

* *Initiate and generate in-depth analyses of business to maximize sales and profits; with action plans to reduce risks

* *Partner with MP&A department to create and implement department and company merchandise plans

* *Ensure company standards on quality are in conjunctions with Manager of Product Quality and GMM

* *Drive business through promotional strategies and communicating inventory needs; determine product placement for key time periods and promotional floor set

* Develop cross-functional partnerships with plan allocations, product development, sourcing, and marketing

* Manage, mentor, and train the Assistant(s) of the department

* *Execute product testing to ensure timely delivery with sufficient inventory levels to obtain an accurate test read; and maximize future sales and margin results


Skills and Abilities

* Ability to take a critical approach to develop benchmark and line plans to implement product line and assortments for the long-term

* Strong Quantitative skills(includes query language programming, Excel, retail merchandise management databases and previous planning skills), excellent oral communication skills, influence and negotiation skills a must

* Ability to executive assortment strategy that supports short and long-term growth

* Requires MicroStrategy or relevant software experience

* Develops collaborative working relationships

* Acute sense of brand and customer

* Understanding of competitive market

* Strong communication, presentation and negotiating skills

* Goal oriented with demonstrated leadership skills

* Abstract thinker

* Risk taker

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree

* Minimum of 5-7 years of buying experience in a Retail environment; prefer combination of both stores and web

Working Conditions
