The CAD Designer function is to provide GIS and CAD support to project managers in maintaining, developing and /or updating pipeline alignment sheets and facility piping, mechanical, electrical, instrument, civil, and structural drawings in an effort to complete project requirements. GIS/CAD Technician will also work with GIS department team members in assisting in the migration or conversion of project information into our in-house database (PODS).
Uses AutoCAD 2016 and AutoCAD Map 2016 or higher for design and conversion purposes
Uses AutoCAD to complete updates from redlined field documents
Uses AutoCAD to complete and maintain facility as-built drawings.
Uses AutoCAD to prepare construction drawings of facilities and other redesigns required
Organize, maintain and create engineering standard detail drawing and ensure they are accessible.
Use ArcGIS Version 10 or higher to generate maps and perform basic GIS analysis
Uses Bluesky/Lightening software to develop alignment sheets
Uses GIS tools to capture, convert, create, edit digital information
Uses database management tools and application like MS Access, Oracle, etc.
Assist in database development using preferred GIS based processes
Assist in and facilitate data collection with internal departments and third party sources
Applying projection processes to CAD survey drawing and convert to GIS
QA/QC of data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Understand the project goal, scope of work and expectations of the client.
Production of project deliverables to meet defined requirements.
Ability to address technical issues, ensure best practices, and develop process approaches for projects
Attend conferences and training to maintain and grow knowledge of GIS technical capabilities
Perform work in a safe manner
Follow department quality processes and project QC plans
Share knowledge and train staff in GIS technical capabilities
Implement GIS technology into new areas within the organization
Work as a team player and contribute to an exceptional culture
Requires travel up to 20 percent and a valid driver s license required to operate company vehicles.
Certificate in CAD and/or a two year degree with emphasis in drafting and design and the understanding of the pipeline / processing industry is preferred.
0-5 years experience in GIS and CAD
0-5 years experience in GIS and CAD industry
Proficiency with ESRI software products including ArcGIS
Knowledgeable in pipeline regulations and standards, including 49CFR Part 195 and ASME B31. 4.
Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and operation of standard office equipment
Valid driver s license required to operate company vehicles
Competent in making telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel
May perform work of lesser skilled employees
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Additional Requirements: Assignments are received in task and objective-oriented terms. Work is reviewed on completion for adequacy in meeting objectives and will works with all levels of management as well as employees in corporate and field offices. Occasional contact with regulatory personnel and work with internal/external auditors to gather data, answer questions, and resolve audit issues. Contact with vendors and contract specialists for employee placement services. Provides leadership and coordinates activities of contractors and company personnel assigned to corrosion control projects within area of operations.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a climate controlled environment but may also be performed outside where exposure to extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of office environment, construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment.
Physical Demands: Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level and tools and equipment required for the job. Work may require frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying 25-50 pound objects such as electronic devices, tools and equipment. Work involves sitting and driving for periods of time, standing and walking.
