Position Summary:

Berkeley Labs Facilities Division has an opening for a CAD/Document Controls Specialist. Classification will depend upon the applicant's level of skills, knowledge, and abilities. This position will be filled at the Sr. CAD/Document Controls Specialist or Principal CAD/Document Controls Specialist level, dependent on experience.

Sr. CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST Specific Responsibilities:

*

Use computer-aided drafting, spreadsheet, and word processing programs to modify standard specifications, details, and other electronic files to satisfy project-specific requirements. Interface with engineers to develop and draft new AutoCAD details, drawing notes, and equipment specifications as required to meet project objectives.
*

Maintain libraries of standard AutoCAD details, Existing Conditions Source (ECS) drawings, underground Utility & Site drawings, building floor plans and site plans.
*

Gather final project as-built drawings and technical data, and coordinates closure and acceptance of all completed projects. Keeps Chief Plant Engineer and project managers informed on significant project scheduling and/or cost problems and any special support needs required.
*

Manage the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise application software program to ensure all finalized project as-builts meets the LBNL AutoCAD standard and the as-builts drawings are archived per DOE requirements.
*

Organize and compiles pertinent information for equipment files.
*

Comply with all applicable LBNL, Federal, DOE, State of California, and industry design standards, codes, regulations, orders, and directives.
*

Maintenance of Facilities Divisions computer hardward and software related to drawing production, including plotters, paper ordering, software licenses, document management systems upgrades.

In addition to the above, Principal CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST Specific Responsibilities:

*

Coordinate work with other disciplines and outside Design Professional firms on LBNL AutoCAD policy, standards, etc.
*

Develop cost estimates and/or develops or reviews project plans.
*

Coordinate and/or monitors the work of others contractors and/or subcontractors to ensure orders placed match contract requirements.

Additional Responsibilities as needed for the CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST (Sr or Principal)

*

Participate in special projects (e.g., trouble shooting, consulting, studies, and training) as needed.

Sr. CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST Required Qualifications:

*

Has relevant experience in Document Management for Architectural, Engineering in Industrial, Commercial or Construction Fields as applied to wet/dry laboratories, clean rooms, cold rooms, shops, office, load center, and specialized research facilities. Also has relevant experience coordinating drawing with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
*

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013, PC Applications and Autocad v. 2013.
*

Working knowledge of applicable industry and regulatory standards, safety codes, design standards and environmental regulations pertinent to engineering data management.
*

Substantial experience and proficiency with AutoCAD workstations, and proficiency with applicable software applications related to engineering and design.
*

Ability to climb ladders and perform occasional field work around hazardous systems and equipment, and to inspect construction, equipment, systems, and structures.
*

Working knowledge of applicable LBNL, Federal, DOE, State of California, and industry design standards, codes, regulations, orders, and directives.

In addition to the above, Principal CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST Required Qualifications:

*

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of six years related professional technical experience.
*

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD and Meridian.
*

Experience in coordinating and/or monitoring work as a team.
*

Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting complex technical data.

Additional Desired Qualifications for the CAD/DOCUMENT CONTROLS SPECIALIST (Sr or Pricipal)

*

Knowledge of BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise application software or other document management systems.
*

Knowledge of Revit or other BIM modeling tools.
