Position Summary
The CDC Lead is responsible for leading the core career development administrative function for BCG Great Lakes (Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis offices).In addition to maintaining excellence in the operations of five career development committees covering more than 400 non-Partner Consulting Team (CT) members, the CDC Lead is also responsible for designing future improvements and innovations for the operations for the function, in partnership with the CDC heads and other key office leaders.

Job Responsibilities
Lead the operations of five Career Development Committees (CDCs) and Principal Development Committees (PDCs):

* Develop and set annual calendar, coordinating with office calendar, regional and OPT calendars, and considering promotion schedules/deadlines

* Manage CDC and PDC Advisor cadre and pairings

* Own end-to-end CDC and PDC meeting preparation, together with Associate

* Attend most meetings and ensure adherence to policy and governance; includes travel to Detroit for all Detroit CDC meetings

* Ensure dossier quality control review dossiers for accuracy, consistency, strength-based feedback, and ensure any required updates are made post-meeting

* Oversee the triggering of downward/upward evaluation requests for CHI/DET/MIN PLs/Cs/As; Responsible for the triggering of same for Great Lakes Principals

* Oversee maintenance of Career Development database (eCD): update dollars led/managed, matrix, promotion pipeline

* Oversee preparation of materials and drive/content and slidewriting for key meetings: CDC/PDC meeting intro decks; CDC/PDC information sessions, local PL Development Series, Flash Reports for local leadership meetings

* Analyze, report, and prepare distribution of annual CD Advisor Survey results

Additional CDC-specific responsibilities

* Prepare submissions to the region for promotions to Principal

* Develop and manage database of advisees (e.g. review cadence, tenure)

* Ensure local CDC bodies are informed of and operate consistently with NAMR CDC/PDC policy

* Calibrate project reviews for Cs/As for Great Lakes

* Pair and confirm new consulting staff with CDC advisors, orchestrate and communicate reassignments as needed

* Onboard new advisors for A/C/PL CDCs via 1-on-1 or small group sessions

Other Development Committee related responsibilities

* Collaborate with line manager on developing, documenting, and establishing new policies, approaches, and points of view

* Liaise with region on key issues (data requests, policy inquiries, etc) and participate in regional CDC forums

* Ensure CDC/PDC operations reflect best practices for Diversity & Inclusion

* Oversee preparation of review timeliness reports

* Liaise with Recruiting, Staffing, and other functions as it pertains to CDC

* Manage select additional responsibilities related to career development processes (e.g., Executive Coaching, Office Mentor Program coordination, etc)

* Conduct ad hoc analysis and reporting

* Support development of OPT submissions

Support annual Consulting Team year-end bonus process and tenure increases

* Set the calendar and schedule key meetings

* Oversee collection of accurate inputs

* Manage bonus roster and funding pool; liaise with Regional finance team on updates

* Collaborate with leadership on finalizing individual bonuses

* Oversee the production of bonus memos

* Help develop bonus process materials for key meetings

* Support January tenure increase process and roster submission

Consulting Team Comings and Goings

* Team with Great Lakes HR, Staffing, People Team, and Finance to ensure a common, accurate, accounting of all CT "Comings and Goings" (e.g., from Time For You to Mobility to Secondments to FlexTime to Career Transition, to name only a few)

* Coordinate the review of applications for mobility programs with CDC bodies, HR, and People Team

* Team with HR and CDAs to prepare submissions for outbound transfer requests and rounding out experiences (e.g., secondments applications)

* Partner with HR and CDC-A head, and Marianne Jones on communicating status of sponsorship offers, etc.

Key linkages with Learning & Development

* Reinforce teaming with L&D to ensure CDAs bring well crafted action plans and recommendations for coaching and learning to their advisees

* Work with CDC heads and L&D leadership to ensure CDC advisors receive training and coaching to ensure effectiveness and encourage local innovation

Basic Job Requirements

* BA/BS degree required with 5+ years related work experience

* Prior BCG experience strongly preferred, especially substantive knowledge of CDC either as a BST member or from time as a CT member

* Able to take ownership of major end-to-end processes

* Ability to investigate information from a variety of sources; to analyze, interpret, and summarize data gathered, and to prepare / present results in decks and other written communication

* Strong problem solving ability and effective at networking within BCG

* Comfort with quantitative data and the ability to pay particular attention to detail

* Detail oriented, focused on accuracy and precision

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of information

* Comfort interacting with and making requests of senior leadership

* Service orientation and flexible, team player

* Self-starter, takes initiative; identifies things that need doing and does them without being asked

* Strong computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are essential

* Organizational skills: ability to handle competing priorities and to work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment; ability to follow a demanding schedule: complete assigned work independently, take initiative, think ahead, overcome obstacles and prioritize tasks

* Effective management practices ability to structure work, set priorities, inspire and develop others
