Job Summary Statement:
Under the general supervision of Dr. Patricia Ganz, Director of the UCLA Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research (CPCR), provide clinical nursing support for a range research and clinical studies that Dr. Ganz is performing. These include, but are not limited to supporting clinical cancer survivorship consultations that occur weekly, provide leadership for survivorship education in a clinical trial of younger breast cancer survivors, and recruiting for and enrolling patients in a limited number of cancer prevention or treatment clinical trials. As part of these activities, the incumbent will provide navigation for patients seen for survivorship consultations, lead an already developed survivorship education seminar for younger breast cancer survivors that will be given twice a year, and determine eligibility for clinical studies. Routine activities will include, perform telephone intakes and chart reviews, document complete medical histories and survivorship care plans. Perform nursing assessments, interventions, and obtain blood specimens as appropriate with research patients. Administer study medications per protocol regimens. Counsel patients on survivorship care, health promotion and wellness during individual patient visits and for educational intervention sessions. Assist with other research related activities as part of a multi-disciplinary research team. Maintain thorough and accurate clinical and research records and files.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
A current CA Registered Nurse license
Primary Care/ Oncology Experience
Skill in performing phlebotomy, taking medical histories, and doing physical exams.
Knowledge of cancer survivorship issues, including but not limited to long term and late effects including cognitive changes after cancer treatment, cardiovascular late effects.
Ability to interact effectively with research staff, medical staff and patients.
Knowledge of current literature, journals and clinical guidelines related to cancer survivorship.
Ability to take direction from physicians and other personnel effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary for maintaining high levels of clinical care,
integrity and credibility with medical staff and patients. Ability to interact effectively with the faculty, staff, and subjects. Required
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply clinical and research protocols.
Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work load.
Demonstrated ability to write and develop new materials for patients and research projects, write reports, correspondence, etc.
Demonstrated analytical skills to recognize issues/situations that require action, define problems by performing research and fact finding, present alternatives in an analytical and logical format, and formulate and recommend solutions.
Ability to effectively use computer information technology, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-based databases.
Proficiency in UCLA Care Connect EMR system to enter notes and orders, review results, track patient appointments, obtain UCLA Medical Group authorizations and contact staff members as needed.
Ability to write manuscripts at an advanced level and submit to professional journals.
Detailed knowledge of Common Toxicity Criteria (CTC) for clinical trials.
Established relationships with leaders in the Cancer Survivorship Community for collaboration and consultation.
Ability to shift priorities, be flexible and adaptable to changes.
